Guy goes to Vegas to attend Photoshop convention, get's banned from casino (http://onemansblog.com/2009/09/30/the-photos-that-got-me-banned-from-excalibur-las-vegas-you-know-homeland-security/) for taking photos of exterior.
but think of the children! ;)
but seriously-what a jerk and at at least the folks he spoke to actually listened to him. what becomes of it is another story but at least on its face, he was heard.

why not ask to speak to a manager immediately?
The photo of Excalibur which is shown on his blog is very sharp and seems to be high quality--the average tourist takes "junk" photos. Perhaps the "real" reason is that they fear he will sell his photos and take away business from the photos of the property that they sell in various venues.:p
PS: I've stayed at Excalibur twice, and the last time I had a very bad experience--if he were never to set foot in that casino he would not be missing much.:td:

I don't see US news on a daily basis but it seems the 'Homeland Security' tag is banded around a little too liberally and used as a generic tag to put an immediate smackdown on someone with no questions asked.
Surely it'd do Vegas a favour if this Robin Hood fantasy fest was razed?

Meh....I've banned myself from Excalibur... that place is a pit.

Little rough on them. It's getting a little run down but I wouldn't call it a pit. The outside still makes for a very colorful picture. It's pretty and established as a part of the Strip skyline.
Stay away from the buffet though.:p

According to the EXIF, he was using a EOS 5D Mark II. My brother offered to lend me his DSLR for my upcoming trip, guess I'll stick with my P&S ;).
I just responded to that blogger and more or less apologized for the jerks who pulled that stunt. As a local, it irks me to no end to see tourists treated like this - and Excalibur should be ashamed and offer that guy some huge comps.
I suggested he forward his story on to the local television stations - they love reporting idiotic events like this, showing why Las Vegas sometimes fully deserves the bad rep it gets in the press. I hope he follows up and sends this to one of the television stations - I am sure they will have a field day making fun of the dumbass security guards who started this mess.
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day; give a man a security guard job and he can be a dumbass bully forever.

I'm looking at a new Canon A1100is that would take pictures probably better than the ones he posted. Image stabilization is a remarkable thing.

Shush, it's just because I've had uh, "several" cocktails by that point.
But I agree, ridiculous--mostly because I love taking tons of pictures of Vegas every time I go out--was just there a couple of weeks ago. Guess my camera isn't good enough for harassment!

That is just insane.:td:
I hope there were repercussions for those over zealous security guards!

I am no great photographer but the photos may be sharp ie not blurry but certainly poorlly framed. Could have been taken at legoland.

+1
Along with the Sahara, I cannot comprehend how they're still in business. It cannot last.

I am no great photographer but the photos may be sharp ie not blurry but certainly poorlly framed. Could have been taken at legoland. And yet, I've seen far worse, so I didn't think they could be called "junk" photos. That was my point. I'm afraid it's been blurred and poorly framed. :D :D :D
