Promoting the new A345 on that OSL-BKK route, I now found out some flights later in year are operated by 777 aircraft and now 10Oct them also just changed to A346 aircraft.
Good for prem econ pax ( I think them upgr. to the 2nd C cabin behind )
But econ pax hoping to enjoy 36 " pitch now only have 34 or behind 32 ", but I think about this, TG not care so much. Business Iam not sure if the same product ? At least the 60" pitch is the same ( sleeperseat ), but I think the screen on that A345 is bigger than on a A346 ?
Anyhow, I think that's the biggest problem with TG. Them have too many different seatproduct running ! 7442 & 7443 , 777 , 340-300, 340-500, 340-600. And them mix and match just like them want.
But this is TG ! Thai people would never complain about things like this (only we stupid farangs ). And that's why them not care about this.

How is the C product on the 777s? Seems as all flights around x-mas from OSL are 777s, can't find any buses.

New C is essentially the same - with a few minor differences... It sure beats the old 'chairs'...
Enjoy it!

Only 34"?? Industry standard in Y is 32" and some major carriers offer even less. I find it strange that you complain about not getting 34" or even 36". The 36" on the A345 was only supposed to be for the ultra-long LAX and JFK routes and never meant for Europe. So this should be considered a bonus for the lucky travellers from OSL who get a chance to fly the A345.
BTW the 772ER has 34" in Y, the 773 has 34" in the front Y cabin (and 35" for the last three rows in the plane). Only 772 has an all 32" Y cabin.

I'm hoping to use some *A Miles to book a trip for my wife and I from Europe to BKK in mid-March next year, and have never travelled in TG Business before.
Would be most grateful for any advice from a kind person on this forum.
We are able to get seats from 3 separate points of origin - namely LHR/OSL/CDG.
From which of these airports are we likely to experience the TG service at it's best? Taking into account Airport Lounges/Aircraft/Seats/Config etc.
Also - will TG permit pre-seating for Miles-ticket customers in the upstairs cabin on a 744?
Thank you in advance for any help.

My pick would be LHR in the 744, which consistently has this aircraft. Other routes can suffer equipment changes at short notice.
Pre-allocation is possible if using THAI ROP miles, but might also be possible if sourcing from other airlines. Second pick would be on a route served by 777-200ER (Thai's code is for this type is, rather mystifyingly, 777-200/300). The 777-200ER C seat is better than the B744 or A345/6, which is a different design

Same. Call the London office, reserve your seat and book a meal. Just be prepared for the possible TIP (Thai Important Person) cabin shuffle.

The corrupt buffons at TG have struck again with a nagative equipement change: TG 677 today NRT-BKK switched to 747 all series from 744.
Meaning I have to endure the crappy old C seats and a prehistoric entertainment system for 6 hours.
TG the hub of incompetence

TG676/677 uses aircraft that turn around from CDG-BKK flight. If that aircraft is delayed or gone tech they will use aircraft that come back from CPH instead. Again, this is a trade off between lengthy delay vs seat comfort. I'm sure that if the estimated delay is short then TG would not change aircraft, but if the flight is expected to be delayed longer, say, 3 hours then swapping to 747 and leave on time or with just a short delay will make more passengers happy.
Moreover HS-TGN had gone tech at LHR a few days ago and remained AOG overnight. That must wreck havoc on TG's tight 744 aircraft rotation and might have played some role on your unfortunate aircraft swap.

Hi,
TG 948 was using old tg metal and had old c and old F. I was luckily opped up from a Q which I only bought 36 hours before the flight. Several pax near me were angry over the old seats and substandard IFE. I was not complaining as I was expecting a rough ride in a full economy cabin. I´m booked in M for Saturday´s return flight which was initially waitlisted for about 3 hours before confirmation. Fingers crossed for a return op up!
Cheers!

Hi coinhunter, nice when TG do this for their gold carders, sometimes you get to wishing for an oldie just for the opup, last week, flying out ofCGK, the agent kindly advised that Y was overbooked by 10%, so I bought, and was opup at the airport. Travelling a lot in C, I like it when they do this, save a few dollars here and there, it's similar to Hotels programs, where you buy a basic room and they upgrade you to a suite. Trust the return was comfy?, regrds bkkrop

A year or two ago this route suffered heavily from the equipment change lottery. Usually the flight was scheduled as A346 but quite often a 7442 was used ! :o:eek:
Not sure what it's really like now, but I think only the FRA route is pretty safe from these shenanigans?

Am about to board a flight from BKK - BOM on the (somewhat) fabulous 7442... Not that this is a lottery... ;-)
Although, I think the A330 is a better bird... Certainly bigger pitch!

I was pleasantly surprised with the 7442... I was exit row upper deck and was very comfy for the 4 hr hop to BOM from BKK... That said, anything over 4-6 hours would eek me!
All in all there were 8 people in the bubble and perhaps a few more downstairs, against the wall ;) There were 2in F and Y looked very full... Perhaps that is why they changed to the 747 from the A330?
