KLM Flying Dutchman - How to know if my flight is cancelled

Just if some some can help me.

I am travelling on the 08 october from ZRH-AMS-MEX and now i just got a sms in my iphone that AMS-MEX KL685 is cancelled but not news from my flight ZRH-AMS ? and also nothing else....!!! I called FB but the lady at the phone say that for she these flight is ok, and she tell me that if is cancelled, at the airport on the 08 october KLM will help me with other flight but not more information.

Also I try to check in KLM web and one thing I saw that if you check itinerarys or something if these flight is ok, I just got: " not flight found on these destination on these date, please try another days "

So, why do you think?

I can see that they are still taking bookings for KL685 connecting from ZRH and from AMS directly.

also I was check other webs like expedia,ebookers, etc and is true, like you say but interessting thing becuse I got these sms and searching information for that flight, I got that I say before. I dont know why KLM are taking more booking for these flight.

two times I had the same situation with any positiv reply from KLM and at the airport KLM desk have for me other ticket with other airline that make stop 2 times before arrived in Mexico.

KLM say all the time: " Dont worry Sr, you will see at the airport but the never say: Yes sr, the Flight is cancelled that at the moment I can chosse my route.

I suggest you turn up nice and early to checkin. If it is cancelled there will be enough time to get you over to CDG for the AF or Aeroméxico flight.

KLM are useless, I guess you should vote with your wallet if you aren't happy.

This has happened to me before - on a different itin though.

It's best to contact the travel agent who made the booking (assuming you booked through a travel agent, otherwise it will be KLM reservations - not FB!) and explain the text message you got. At this point, it will only be KLM who are aware of the cancellation and it may not even be know to other departments within KLM.

Your travel agent should then get in touch with KLM, as you will be entitled to an alternative itinerary that will get you to MEX on the same day. As your original routing involves AMS and hence an EU country, the EU regulation will apply. If they get you in to MEX too late you'll be entitled to compensation as well. See http://ec.europa.eu/transport/passengers/air/air_en.htm:

You will be entitled to compensation (600 euro) unless you depart no more than one hour before the scheduled time of departure and reach the final destination less than two hours after the scheduled time of arrival.

If they get you there within four hours, they can halve the compensation.

Note that the regulation also states that "When passengers are informed of the cancellation, an explanation shall be given concerning possible alternative transport."

I would recommend that you don't just go to the airport, certainly not if the text message also instructs you to get in touch with the travel agent. If you go to the airport there may be little that they can do or indeed it will be a much later flight with more connections. If there is an alternative itinerary you prefer, your travel agent can try obtain this for you (at no extra cost I should say).

I called KLM services and they confirm that my flight from ams-mex klm 685 is cancelled...!!!!

Take the LX flights!

The AF CDG-MEX flight is probably already full with other pax ex AMS.

Take the itinerary that best suits you. Next criterion in my opinion would be ease of transfer. The extra change of planes involving the MAD option is only useful if you want to avoid the USA or if you have a need to requalify for FB on segments... You will want a fair amount of transfer time as most options involve a change of planes in the US. This may require some research and/or input from someone who has flown these routes, i.e. not me.

If none of that matters and if you have a booking in C, go for the LX and AM flights.

Don't forget to ask FB miles for the original flights in addition to any M&M you may collect on LX - you have to request a retro-credit by fax/mailto FB explaining that this was your original itinerary. This is not possible if you select another ST itinerary.

Also don't forget to claim compensation as I guess that you won't be arriving <2 hours from your original scheduled arrival. If you're in Y, they might just put you in C instead if you ask nicely.

I just was at the phone with a not nice person KLM and then:

Options, still I dont know ? normally I was arriving at Mexico 17:20pm

2.-5hours later
3.-5hours later
4.-5hours 45min later
5.-12hours later
6.-11hours later

I try to avoid USA but if I get the 6 option, I will be to late and also 11hours later in Mexico, I am booked in J class, also the person at the phone say that they ofert to me any hotel in any airport, meals, etc but I dont know if is true or just they give you a Ibis hotel and voucher for a salat and one drink...!!!! But he never say any compensation $$$$ for all these late time...!!!

And ending I say that I will check at the airport what is the best option and also he say that it was ok becuse KLM desk " Have to " ofert me a option the day whan I will fly...!!!

Also I was asking for CDG-MEX with AF and he say that the flight is fully booked in C and J but there not F that he try to ofert me a seat but on the 08 october is just the 774-AF 438 to Mexico not more ans the early is AM but is full in C and J,

He say if I want to stay one day in Paris and he will try to put me in F just to for the compensation for all that bur he never ofert me a Hotel.

So, I just say, please leave my booking like is now and I will ask at the airport.
