On expertflyer it shows there are premium seats in economy. I think i read premium seats should have extra leg room?

So i called kLM 1-800 and asked about these premium seats, and twice i was told there is no premium seats, and that the seats are the same.

Can someone please shed some light on this, are there premium seats on economy? and what is the price?

Have a look at the two stickies immediately above your post for all the info on seating.

Hi Alan. Following your post I replied to the OP as it is really a question about expertflyer (and finding KL seats) as opposed to a question about KL seating. That is, it is about understanding the functionality of expertflyer (I think) and therefore the answer is not in the KLM seating stickies. Apologies if I should not have posted.

Hi Jordan. Which flight are you considering? Which a/c?

I think you may have possibly misunderstood the information from expertflyer. If you are referring to the seating plan that shows a blue P-symbol inside a blue square on a white background, that symbol indicates 'Premium Only', not premium economy. It means:
'The seat has not been assigned to a passenger, and can only be assigned to a passenger with a certain status designated by the airline.'

If you take the example of AMS-MEX (KL685), and ask for all three seat classes to be shown, expertflyer will give you the same rows for premium coach as it does for economy. There is no premium economy on the flight however. If you look at various options, you will see the P-symbol that I mentioned. The key tells you it means 'premium only', which I can understand would be confusing. It is also confusing that it does enable the premium coach tab ... and those P-symbols appear when that is selected.

All the seats from row 9 up (apart from upper deck) are economy seats with the only differences in pitch, width, recline etc being due to positioning (eg exit row, bulkhead, last row and so on).

I hope that helps ...

thanks for the response brian1042

that is correct, i was referring to the blue P-symbol.

i thought maybe one had to pay to get those seats, since it says "Premium"..lol

Heard about the new comfort economy? is it the same thing? i thought i read they charge u to get these "special seats" in economy, thats what i thought the blue P-symbol seats are.

very confusing..lol

Your flight is on a 777.

KLM do not have premium economy for any flights, though AF are just introducing it on certain routes, and KLM plan to have an 'Economy Comfort' section from December.

Many airlines charge a premium for certain seats - eg exit rows with extra leg room. This is not the same thing as premium economy. These are standard economy seats but their location gives some additional benefits (and maybe drawbacks).

Comfort economy is another term for premium economy.

On your flight I would choose 11C if in Y, or its equivalent (G or H - not sure) on the other side. It is the end of a row of three with just two in front - so more leg room. The drawback is that you can get bumped by trolleys etc. Row 30 or 31 gives extra legroom as it is the exit row, but I would not get the seat by the door. The aisle one is best (IMHO).

I tried to get row 10 for tomorrow's flight to Singapore (KL 837) but those were already gone. :(

SO I opted for 31G though the other two seats next to me had already been assigned. I guess it will be a tight squeeze!

What are the chances of me snagging 3 seats in a row window side? Does KL block seats for Gold Elite members?

I'm rushing home to a dying friend and am quite anti social at the moment...

Thx
