Flying Blue (Air France & KLM) - Is it possible: Transferring 40K from Korean Air to Flying Blue for Gold Status?

Hi everybody,

First, apologies in advance for a basic question. Being somewhat new to this forum, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the information and insights available here.

I currently have 130,000 Korean Air miles and am keenly interested in joining Flying Blue program. I'm based in Korea and do much of my flying through KAL. I'm wondering if it's possible to transfer 40,000 Korean Air miles over to Flying Blue to immediately qualify for Fly Blue Gold membership?

Or, would I need to earn the 40,000 Flying Blue miles from scratch to qualify? As it stands now, I'm not currently enrolled in Flying Blue. Having just learned about it, though, I'd eagerly use them for all forthcoming travel.

I've read about 'matching' on some other threads and I'm not sure if that's applicable here.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks very much!

It is not normally possible to transfer miles directly. One of the few options would be transfering them into AMEX membership rewards and then transfering them into miles of the programme you wanted.

This is however, only for award miles and not for level miles [which give you the status].

So to answer your question, no.

And to follow Gajan's advice, I would just mention that I think you're the only person on FT keen on joining FB. :)
