What are the points worth? That is, how many points do you need for an airline ticket of a given price?

every 7500 points you can apply for a $100 credit to your account. The credit can only be used towards travel related charges - I just booked two tickets for an up coming trip- which I have enough points built up for credit of $200. this card is nice as it does not have an annual fee. Points are 1 per $. You dont have to worry about rewards availability etc as it builds a credit for your account. Sort of like using miles and cash on some of the airline rewards. After you charge a travel related expense - you can apply for the credit-cars,planes, hotels etc.

Yeah, I have this card and it's pretty nice since it doesn't limit you to one airline (or hotel or car rental company). You can PM me also if you need a referral.

Hi FlyerTalkers, it’s Rachel with Amex Customer Care.
I just wanted to let everyone interested in the Blue Sky from American Express Card:
•You would accrue 1 Blue Sky point for every eligible dollar spent. Points can be redeemed for statement credit within 60 days of the billed charge toward the following travel related charges:
Airlines
Hotels
Car Rentals
Cruise lines
Travel agencies
Tour operators
Online Travel sites
For 7,500 points you would receive a $100.00 credit, 15,000 points is a $200.00 credit and so on. They also just recently added other ways to redeem your points for American Express Gift Cards and other gift cards.
I hope this information is helpful for you.

That's about a 1.3% return - not bad with no restrictions if you are using it to pay for coach tickets or hotels or cars. But it doesn't work out well if you want a business or first class ticket, as they are so much more expensive than coach tickets. That's one place where the mileage cards are much better.

I can see that. Personnally I never accumulate enough miles to fly first class. The non fee card is a real bonus. I have just found this card works well for me. another biggie is no restriction to one airline.
