SkyTeam - Connecting from Delta to Aeromexico in MEX -- I'm worried!

So, just found out that my excellent schedule to Puerto Vallarta on 1 JAN 2010 (PWM-DTW-PVR) just fell apart since NW has cancelled the DTW-PVR flight on 1 JAN.

That leaves me with essentially just one option and that's DL: PWM-ATL-MEX-PVR. I'm concerned about the connection in MEX since I think I'll need to transfer from the Intl to the Domestic terminal and I've heard horror stories.

I know SkyTeam boasts about the excellent facilities in MEX, but I have just 70 minutes between flights and have real concerns about this. I've read that some of the domestic flights are accessed via bus only and that the flights close 30 mins prior to published flight time! (i.e. if you miss the bus, you've missed the flight!)

A few things about me: I have travelled extensively throughout Mexico and my Spanish is excellent. I love Mexico City, but I've also waited more than an hour just to clear immigration there over the years.

So, I'm hoping that a few of you can help me feel better about this new schedule ... I'd really appreciate some feedback from some folks who've done DL>AM connections in MEX this year .... have they worked to streamline the connections? I'm hoping that there is a short immigration line for those pax who are continuing on to domestic flights......

The MCT for an Intl to Dom transfer (T2 to T2) in MEX is 120 minutes, so this would not be a legal connection:

Well, shame on DL!! I can't believe that they have ticketed me with an illegal connection! I did finally learn that last year DL and AM coordinated their efforts in the new T2 terminal and they're still boasting of how simple the connections are, but the details are very thin and -- believe me -- I've looked high and low for almost ANY info about my questions above and it's nigh impossible to get solid info on these sorts of connections in MEX.

I've never encountered such a frustrating dearth of info on an everyday travel question.

In any case, thanks again for letting me know about the MCT in T2. The fact that it's listed at a whopping 2 hours speaks volumes about how impractical this whole plan may really be. Back to the drawing board with DL, I guess.
