Please excuse my ignorance. I am well versed in *A, but a OW virgin! I arrive in NRT in F on AA and depart to TPE in C on JL. Do I have F lounge access or C in NRT?

I am well versed in *A, but a OW virgin! I arrive in NRT in F on AA and depart to TPE in C on JL. Do I have F lounge access or C in NRT?Probably up to interpretation by the JL dragons; it's a non-issue with AA as there's no AA F lounge at NRT. The JL F lounge is great; the JL business lounge is also pretty terrific, as is the Admiral's Club. Kiwi Flyer Oct 3, 09, 4:46 pm C lounge access only, unless you have OW emerald status. You have a choice of lounges between JL (not very good), AA, CX, or QF (my pick). Supersonic Swinger Oct 3, 09, 6:29 pm C lounge access only, unless you have OW emerald status. You have a choice of lounges between JL (not very good), AA, CX, or QF (my pick). Your ratings apply to the C lounges right, not the F lounges? I'm guessing a 2:15 connection between an arriving AA flight and departing JL flight may not be enough to enjoy a lounge much... QF, and another JL are out in the satellite. Unless you're departing from there, I wouldn't mess with the satellite lounges. Unlike Kiwi, I'm not that impressed with the QF lounge. However, I've only ever used it during the middle of the day. Maybe it's better in the evening? jib71 Oct 3, 09, 6:41 pm Your ratings apply to the C lounges right, not the F lounges? Assuming a smooth passsage through security, OP could spend 90 mins or so in the lounge. Long enough to care about being in a nice lounge. Kiwi Flyer Oct 3, 09, 6:43 pm Your ratings apply to the C lounges right, not the F lounges? For F lounge I'd pick JL every time (when on OW, on *A it is the NH NRT lounge). Supersonic Swinger Oct 5, 09, 9:54 pm Thanks for all the suggestions - I am OW Emerald so I will take the opportunity to enjoy the JL F Lounge for 2 hours. awpeters Oct 6, 09, 6:43 pm Similar question--newb just getting used to flying up front :) I'm AA no status (PLT after this trip), AMEX PLT. I will be flying: LGA-BOS-ORD-NRT-HAN all on AA except NRT-HAN segment on JL. Long haul ORD-NRT I'm in C (just eVIP'd up from Q!!). I have over 2 hours at NRT, which lounge should I use? I presume I won't have access to any flagship lounge, so the Biz lounges. Sounds like JL is a best bet? Where, if any, can I take a shower? Same question for my stop at ORD (over 2 hours). Presume i should use the AC? Is there a central thread/website that lists/compares lounges by airport?? Thanks! Kiwi Flyer Oct 6, 09, 7:30 pm You won't have access to lounges at NRT because NRT-HAN is in economy and you don't have OW sapphire/emerald status. At ORD you have access to the admirals club only (not flagship lounge). IIRC ORD AC has a shower. awpeters Oct 6, 09, 7:33 pm You won't have access to lounges at NRT because NRT-HAN is in economy and you don't have OW sapphire/emerald status. Even though I'm flying into NRT in C? christep Oct 7, 09, 12:41 am Yes, even though you are arriving in C. It's the departing flight that matters, in general. awpeters Oct 7, 09, 12:42 am Yes, even though you are arriving in C. It's the departing flight that matters, in general. meh.. oh well. I guess it'll be AMEX PLT in the A/C or seeing if I can work some charm on the JAL angels... :) JY1024 Oct 7, 09, 6:32 pm The last time I was in NRT, I flew AA ORD-NRT in J with my parents. At the JL Sakura Lounge in NRT, we were rebuffed when we tried to enter. (We were connecting to a JL flight, but in Y.) I was OW Sapphire, so I was allowed entry, but only with one guest. So I ended up taking my parents with me to the AC at NRT. awpeters - in regards to some of your questions... Kiwi is correct that you'll only have access to AC at ORD (no FL) and there are indeed showers in the AC. Since you're coming off of AA J, you'll have access to the NRT AC. (Though since you have AMEX Platinum, that's a moot point.) HOWEVER - I just went to the OW site - and from reading it, I think you may be able to access the JL Sakura Lounge. From OW Lounge Access (http://www.oneworld.com/ow/ffp/lounge-access#the-oneworld-lounge-access-policy) page: Eligibility In all cases, lounge access eligibility is based on: * Departing carrier - you must be flying on your next onward segment, on the same day, on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline AND * Frequent flyer tier status - you must also hold a frequent flyer card equivalent to oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status, OR * Class of travel - you must produce a First or Business Class boarding pass for the journey's international segment on the same day. So you ARE flying on a OW carrier on the same day AND you ARE able to produce a J boarding pass for the transpac segment. (Unless I'm reading something incorrectly here, which is entirely possible.) awpeters Oct 9, 09, 2:35 am Since you're coming off of AA J, you'll have access to the NRT AC. Waiting to board my JAL flight in Coach, and I'm sending this message from the JAL lounge at NRT :) ^^^ Will make a trip across the hall to the AC in a minute to decide which one I like more :) |
