The second sector of our trip took us from DXB to BKK again with Emirates on board their A380 in first class.

Please see the previous trip report from LHR-DXB and also see the report on the in-flight shower if you've interest:

For this segment, our flight left Dubai at 9:40 AM and I had a suite on the side (with windows), as a change from being in the centre on the previous segment.

Here are some pictures of the suite (4A), including some additional details:

The windows were interesting in that you could hold the button down and go through a series of different shades - the first was one that allowed some light in, followed by another shade that shut the lights out. They have the same kind of window shades on Malaysia Airlines. This is the progression, for completeness's sake:

open completely (you can see how thick the window is here)

The Emirates experience in their suites was certainly nice and the privacy was wonderful. They really seem to do it properly.
Thanks for reading!

Really great report and I loved the photos. I'm not sure that I like the styling of the suite though, all that wood and gold is actually rather tacky in my opinion.

I was expecting that feeling as well but when you're actually on the plane, the gold is not as obvious as you'd think.

I think it does have a bit more of an "ambiance", I suppose, than the SQ suites.

I just noticed that you were watching "Fawlty Towers," one of my favorites:

Sybil Fawlty: [on the phone] "I know . . . I know . . . I know . . . Oh, I know!"
Basil Fawlty: "Then why is she telling you?"

I even spotted Manuel in his waiter outfit!

Can you identify the program on the screen after the lights were out?

But what about the time warp to Thame's TV's THREE'S COMPANY, or was the British version called MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE? Can't they do any better than 1970s British TV shows?

No one can do better!

I would much rather watch the older shows from the UK than the current rubbish on offer from the US and most other places!

The US copied Thames's "Man About the House" with their "Three's Company".
