In case you missed it, Starbucks launched a new product this week: VIA Ready Brew (http://www.starbucks.com/via) instant coffee in single serving packets.
To promote it at stores this weekend (Fri-Mon), they're having a "taste challenge" to see if you can tell the difference between their fresh brewed and instant coffee.
You get a free tall coffee either way. :)
mentions an offer card on the linked page, are you sure we don't need that?
Had some yesterday but the thin, small packet only made a small cup. It was strong enough [black] but I thought that it was closer to real coffee than did my husband. We nornmally buy Trader Joe's French Roast for home use and grind it daily.

No, just go to a Starbucks store and they should have "taste test" tables set up for you to try. Afterwards, they will give you a coupon. The "offer card" referred to is actually the coupon that they will give you in the store. You have to bring it back on a future visit to get the free tall coffee.
Note: the coupon is actually in two parts, one half is good for $1 off the new product and the other half is good for a free tall coffee on a return visit (it's perforated; tear it in two).
A friend of mine didn't realize this and gave up both coupons to get a $1 off a purchase of the new instant.
Also: a friend who works at Starbuck says they received boxes of the new instant packets to give away as samples. Ask for a sample packet to go while you're in the store!

I tried it today.(My son who works at Starbucks brought a pack home) IMO not as good as regular. But I'm a tuff customer when it comes to coffee:D

I had no problem telling the difference... but either one tasted fine to me.
Maybe I will stop by today for one more taste just to make sure. :D

Went to one near Eastern Market in DC on Sunday-I and everyone else is line got the taste test wrong...seemed like a scam or they were out of coupons.
My girlfriend went on K St. in DC, got it right and wasn't given anything. Grrrr.

They must have run out of coupons; you were supposed to get one regardless. They still had coupons at my local store (Hollywood, CA), I saw them give out two yesterday!
Call Starbucks customer service (800) 235-2883. Tell them your experience and they might send you one in the mail.
And on an O/T note, I hope you will join us at the National Equality March (http://equalityacrossamerica.org/blog/?page_id=19) on Sunday! :)

They had run out at my local starbucks. I know I could have found another one a few blocks away, but who really wants starbucks coffee that badly?

Me.
lol
A side note: at a Starbucks in Burbank today, they had a stack of coupons on the counter near the register. Let's just say I have enough to last me until 11/16 when they expire. hehe.

It's pretty good for instant, but not amazing. I think the taste test is kinda skewed since I'm almost certain that they were using a light brewed coffee against the dark italian VIA.
