Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Cheap A380 First class fares Ex-Europe
I am so eager to try the SQ new first class suite onboard the A380. However, everythime I check the price of the ticket in first class I get shocked.
Any suggestions for a way to get a first class ticket on the SQ A380 for a reasonable price ex-any city in europe even with a feeder service is acceptable ?
The price is high because apparently Suites is not first class, it is a class beyond first. Not aware of cheap Suites tix - SQ seem to have gone to some length to protect the value of their product, even flying with empty Suites sections.

SQ has made it so that the price of a ticket on Suites Class is constant irrespective of where the ticket originates from.
Say 'cheaper' tickets in F class are available from Libya to Singapore. So you go to Tripoli and buy your ticket. Well the fare is calculated with an additional collection from the connection point, eg Paris. The difference will be as if you had bought your ticket from Paris, plus the additional charge from Tripoli. So in fact, it would have been cheaper if you just originated from Paris instead of trying to get a lower fare from another point of origin!
SQ does not discount for its Suites Class. If you want to fly in Suite Class, you pay the full amount.
There are shorter journeys from Singapore to Hong Kong / Tokyo though. Suite Class fares to HK run around US$3500 return. So if you're tight on the budget, you may opt for that. Alternatively, a savvy travel agent might be able to piece together a ticket that includes the Suites Class as part of a longer haul ticket, it may not be the bargain you were hoping for, but at least you get to try the Suites.

We recently (last weekend) flew on the SQ 318 SIN/LHR and I asked could I have a look at the suites, there was no one in them and first and business class were only 40% full, however the Economy was full both upstairs and in the main deck. NO hope of an upgrade though!!!
Top Class Service!!

I did once fly Suites and I have to say the constant flow of sightseers from other parts of the plane was really irritating. I felt like a zoo exhibit.

Top Class Service!!I'm confused. You were on the 380, and they had suites, first, business, and economy? Or did you mean to say that suites were empty, and that business was only 40% full?
Mr H the zoo was actually closed...we had landed in Heathrow when we looked in the suites, therefore we didn't disturb anyone.
I got the categories mixed up on the A380 your right there is only 3 classes Suites, business, and economy, forgive me!!

Hey they just wanted to see what a really rich person looked like.
First Class fares are never 'cheap' but you might find some inexpensive ones.
SQ is rumoured to introduce "F" as a booking class besides "R" which will lower the fares by around 1/3.
The least expensive way to give Suites a try is to fly from SIN to HKG - around 1.500 EUR o/w.
I have flown Suites and the product is not worth the premium. The bed is very nice but Suites is not a class beyond First.

I have to agree. I flew on the Suites too and did not really enjoy myself. Cos food/wine is the same as SQ's F class. I flew SIN-NRT 2 years ago.. and found that the hard product of the Suites was already beginning to show wear and tear and the aircraft was less than a year old!
There has been numerous threads about this issue, that if SQ can justify calling Suites a Class Beyond First, then they should offer better meals, better wines and maybe even limo transfers (at least in Singapore) for people who are forking out 20% more to sit in them than 'normal' F.
Honestly, EK has a better product than SQ.

Then they were sadly misinformed. I am not rich – far from it – but I had booked an F redemption on a 744 that was later changed to a 388 and the booking was honoured in Suites.

The cheapest way to buy Suites class seats is by ex. CGK, around $4k round trip to Narita same fare as their F class. Don't know about their other routes.

Never had that problem before on all my flights in SQ F and Suites. You should've complain to the crew.

flying suites is cool if you fly with a buddy and want to have fun in the suite
being alone in a suite i felt like on a lux train
of ocurse it s cool if you need to work and have a meeting after landing etc
i think plane is small enough and i see no real reason to make even smaller cubicals for us (unless someone likes it)
i personally like open space in the old F class (but again it s a very subjective opinion)

I flew J from AKL through to London via SIN and had the A380 for SIN-LHR. I have to say that it is the best business class seat I have been in even if a bit wide. The bed position had people sitting cross legged watching films and enjoying themselves relaxing.
The IFE is great and the 15" screen provides the best resolution in the sky apart from your laptop.
The seats are showing signs of wear already. My wife's cup holder was broken and some plastic thing had snapped off the front of my seat area as well.
