Anyone flying NW/DL this month that can report on first class upgrades?

Are they gone?

They are not gone....YET

I received upgrades on MEM-DTW-SEA and SEA-MSP last week as FB gold. I would, however, expect the upgrades to leave to be finished either upon "full integration" or some earlier date in the DL integration plan. After the upgrades go, the 50% off awards are the only useful part of FB left for me. :td:

I was a mere Silver (made gold on flight home) and got upgraded on ORD-MSP and MSP-SAT last week. Automatic upgrade on first sector, wait list on second and upgrade came through after boarding (there were 3 1st class seats not checked in so first 3 upgraded at gate - including Plat OH). Obviously someone who had checked in online didn't show and I was next on the list so happy days.

Of course that was still September... isn't the integration date late October?

I'm flying MSP-PHX tomorrow, I won't get an upgrade as there is only 1 seat left but I'm showing 6 of 12 on the upgrade list, so all is not lost..yet!

Useful information, thank you ^

I wonder if these end with the winter timetable? I'm thinking of booking a transcon for November, and I'm quite happy with Delta or indeed NW but it makes sense to choose an old NW flight routing if there is the chance of being in F.

No flights last week, but I did notice that on the KLM site in the Flying Blue - Partners "airlines" search that the upgrade info under the description of the NWA partnership has been removed. I am a bit surprised NWA is still listed as a partner, they are not on the AS site as of a few days ago.

So, I am assuming no more upgrades from now, anyone who can confirm please do so. The last major attraction of FB is dead.

well, NW still exists! Just the FQTV programs are merged at this time.

KLM has confirmed the discontinuation of complimentary domestic upgrades on NW following the DL/NW merger. While this was to be expected, this is another benefit which I hate to see going..

Arnur, did they confirm this somewhere on their website or in a newsletter you could post? Or tell us where you got the official confirmation?

Thnaks!

Along with a number of other Flyertalkers, I participate in a KLM customer panel called "KLM in Touch". The question was raised recently there and they gave us an official answer.. Much as I would have wished for a different outcome, this is straight from the horse's mouth.

OT but....I would very much like to be part of KLM in Touch...thought it would be a case of tough love...

Yeah, and you are not the only one who has that sentiment vis-a-vis KLM (and Flying Blue). One does get invited, probably if you fill-in enough surveys on board of KLM planes and tick the box that you would be willing to participate in additional market research..

Upgrades still exist (but for how long?)

Flew DAL - MEM - MSY on 27th Oct, DAL - MEM was operated in a CRJ200 Pinnacle Airlines by probably the worst flight attendant I've ever come across, so no upgrade there. But when checking into the machine I was offered an upgrade on the MEM-MSY leg of the journey. This was supposed to be a NWA operated flight, although in the end it was a Delta plane and crew.

On 28th Oct, from MSY - MEM - ATL, was offered an upgrade at check-in again on the MSY - MEM leg of the trip. This was again supposed to be NWA operated, plane was Delta livery and crew a mix between NWA and Delta - one surly lady enforcing her command of the NWA boys through her 20 years of experience! MEM - ATL was always Delta operated so not a sniff of an upgrade, even presented myself at the desk with my Gold Elite + and asked if there were any better seats....

Long live NWA, but I dont think these days will last much longer!
