Amazing $99 room deal at the Faimont Scottsdale, formerly the Princess! Normally rates are $300+. 5 Diamond Property, make reservations by October 9th! Rate is good through February 23, 2010, with only a few black out dates. Never seen anything like this before in Scottsdale at this property!

I saw this travelzoo deal and posted as a separate thread in Hotel Deals, though noticed it got merged into a larger PHX hotel deal thread for some reason:

It is a very good deal for this resort especially at this time of year. ^

for sure, a great deal, I cannot get my husband to get past the non refundable rate though. I plan to push a little more!

Does this hotel have any airport transport available?

Nope. Just landed back from PHX tonight and booked the Super Shuttle roundtrip and with a fellow FTers input booked it online and saved $6 RT. That thread is here. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/west/1000707-staying-scottsdale-getting-hrc-opinions-please.html)
BTW, nice resort with excellent service, though comments about its location proved quite true as it is somewhat out of the loop. I'll post a more detailed review on the forum's main hotel review sticky thread soon. :)

I'm considering a stay at this property in December. The Travelzoo rate is $99, the NFAF rate is $119. But with the NFAF rate, I have the option to cancel one week prior to the trip (whereas Travelzoo is non-refundable).
Will probably make a little decision tree on Oct 9th and decide what to do.
When I reserved the room via NFAF, the Fairmont asked me if I wanted a space-available upgrade for $xx more. I think I said "yes" to the casita for $39 more a night.
I'm wondering if this space-available upgrade options happens when you book via the Travelzoo promotion code.

That is a good UG as the normal jump at this hotel between the Fairmont room to deluxe is normally $40/night and another $60 or so to jump from deluxe to Casita Signature rooms. I would expect that those kinds of UG are not considered when booking with travelzoo at their special rate.
Good luck with your plans. :)

I was just on Expedia looking at some dates in December. They have a limited time offer for $99 per night. They take all funds from the credit card today, but you have up to one week prior to cancel for a full refund.
Same price as Travelzoo, but more flexible cancellation. Great deal.
I'd switch from Friends and Family to this, except I'm kinda hoping for a $39 per night upgrade to a Casita. I think the FaF promo could get me that whereas a booking through Expedia may not.

Posting from the Princess. Here until Monday.
Overall so far so good. It is my third time here.
But very few staff around theses days. Stories of staff cut backs appear to be true.
They are supposed to offer curb-side check-in. Had to wait a 5 mins in line inside as only one person at counter. My "guaranteed" room was not ready yet, even though I had arrived 3 hours after I had originally told them in the reservation.
At the east pool yesterday there was not a single staff person in site. At the splash pool there was one person acting as lifeguard and manning the towel station. Not a single person approached me to offer any kind of service (food, drinks etc)
No platinum amenity in the room but one good thing to mention about this hotel is that they never seem to remember to ask for or collect your upgrade certificate.
