Well they say Vegas runs on tips.... the car jockeys at Alamo are no different.

Taking the shuttle from the airport to the car rental complex, I breezed through the Alamo KIOSK avoiding a line with about 20 people in it.

In the Alamo/National lot I asked the car jockey if the fullsize would hold all our luggage (4 people - 6 suitcases) He said "no way" . I pulled $10 from my wallet and asked "what was available" He gave me the choice of ANY vehicle on the lot..... at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

I was really only concerned with a vehicle that would comfortably hold the luggage and people. At his suggestion he showed me the Buick Enclave FWD. It had only 411 miles on it. Perfect, I was sold.

He initialed the rental agreement and I presented it to the lady at the checkout both and we were on our way...

Returning the car..... same deal. Car jockey printed my receipt and it had the correct rate on it.

*** I was very impressed with the shuttle and car rental complex. It was seemless and very easy to get through.

*** Was also impressed with the ALAMO KIOSK. Saved me about an hour over the line.

Good luck with anyone getting an upgrade!

Where were the people like you when I worked for Enterprise? I could have used some beer money! :D

Alamo/National have been VERY short on small cars lately. See the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/national/818662-cars-las.html thread in the National forum for a running report.

$10 was overkill - $5 would have probably done the job ;)

They were pretty strict when I was there last month... Had a Mid-Size SUV Booking (and actually returned a standard SUV that I got on the same in LAX)..

The only decent cars they had were Mustang Convertibles, a Tahoe and an H3... I would've gladly given $50 tip to get one of these, instead I had to wait for an hour until a mid-size SUV with Sirius showed since "you can take Mid-Size SUV or Minivan, that's it".

What can I do to get what I want the next time? Wave at the "car jockey" (what's the correct job title?) with a bill?

$10 = upgrade, loading of luggage, tutorial of Enclave (cause it had more buttons and gadgets then an airplane cockpit). Very friendly service.

Divide that by 2 ( other couple paid half ) = $5

Well worth the $10..........^
