Please be advised that the airspace above and around CPH will be temporarily closed around 7am tomorrow Friday October 2nd and around noon the same day, due to the arrival of Air Force One (and "their" passengers). In both cases it is estimated that the closure will last around 10-15 minuttes, and result in delays of up to 30 min.

Also be advised that due to the IOC meeting the same day, several traffic "issues" will occur, including temporarily closure of the Øresundsbridge, the highway to CPH and rail links to CPH. All expected to be closed 7.30-8.30 Friday morning and 11.30-12.30 Friday noon. Again due to Air Force One arrival and departure (talk about milage run here)

What it says in short that between 7.30-8.30 and 11.30-12.30 it will be almost
impossible to get to the airport by car or taxi. The Oresundsbroen will also be closed shortly. Trains will run as usual from Malmo to CPH and Copenhagen but with delays. The Metro will run as usual.

I would not count on that, Obamas departure could be later than between 11.30-12.30.

He's gone now, half an hour late, so life can return to normal for us Copenhagen-dwellers!

Everything seemed to have worked out smoothly. I didn´t get the impression that it caused any major hickups for arriving and departing planes.

So, was he really aboard? The publication of these detailed timeplans make me suspect the president actually arrived in an unmarked Gulfstreamer at some military airport, with Air Force One as a (very big) decoy.

(*Are* there any military airfields in Zealand?)

To follow up on your conspiracy theory (it is friday after all ;-), I was at the CPH T1 (Domestic) this morning (leaving on SK1243), and wondered why 1) Only one US Air Force 747 landed, if they always travel in pairs and 2) why immediately after landing it drove away behind a cargo terminal for a few minutes to come back out and park in the open.

And no, there are no operational airbases in Zealand any more. However the small Roskilde airport (30 miles from CPH) is sometimes used for low profile government flights.

I believe Air Force One doesn't travel in pairs (hmm, would the callsigns be Air Force 1A and Air Force 1B?), or at least not always.

Back when I lived in Washington, if the president traveled by limousine that was usually in pairs. Lower-level people usually got the 1-limo treatment.

Unless the president is a scitzofrenic, there can only be one Air Force One;)

The is only one Air Force One, but there is usually two almost identic 747-200 which fly together, and you never know which one is the "true" Air Force One. I believe one has tail number 28000 and the 29000. Both arrived this morning at CPH. Exactly the same routine as previous visits by Bush and Clinton. Both left again some 5 hours later.

Obama was on one of them - the first I believe.

Only 29000 visited CPH yesterday. He was not escorted by back-up plane yesterday

It's true that both planes travel as a pair. But from what I remember is the actual (Air Force 1) goes to its original destination, and the other lands at another airport nearby. It's basically there in case some technical or other problem occurs. There was a whole documentary on Air Force 1 on the History Channel here in the U.S. ^

Not always true. During G. Bush last visit, but 28000 and 29000 were in CPH at the same time.

Which was also the case when Clinton visited. My info also was that it was the case this time - but it seems like that was bad info. Sorry. Lets see come December if both of them will be there.

Well I guess the History channel was wrong during the documentary.

So what would happen if Air Force 1 had a technical or another issue they could not fix? I highly doubt the president would board another private charter plane to get him back.

They already got the backup on ground ;) Michelle Obama arrived two days earlier, and she flew a 757 that looks similar to 28/29000 in colorsheme!

But we never know if AF1 landed somewhere else, or is at mx back in US!

I noted the same as others, that it was 29000 that came with the president... Usually the president rides in the 28000... Try look it up on airliners.net to find the photos af the planes the president comes out of!

Yup. I've seen both the 747 and 757 here in EWR during work. 747 was for bush last year and the 757 for Dick C.

It would depend on the circumstances, but we have plenty of USG aircraft within 100 minutes of CPH.
