"The deal is available for overnight stays on Oct. 23 and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis through a company Web site. Eighty-six recently renovated Sheratons in the U.S. and Canada — about 40 percent of the brand's North American locations — will participate in the promotion.
Additional nights and services will cost extra, but the offer will cover the cost of taxes, fees and surcharges, said Hoyt Harper, senior vice president of brand management at Sheraton's parent company Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.
About 2,100 rooms will be available to those who register on Sheraton.com/freenight. Guests will be able to book rooms on the site from Oct. 6 to Oct. 9. Guests who get to the site too late for the free night will be offered a coupon for a room discount."

Does anyone have a link to the list of hotels that will be included in the promo?

I found the link to the page where you can sort hotels by state, but there is not a single list of all hotels, that I can see
Funny, I'm already booked in a Sheraton that night.
With news of the promo, may be worth switching hotels to avoid "amateur night".

I'm book marking this page, thank you for the post! Looks like there are two hotels in the Phoenix Area and one in Tucson for me to choose if I win. The fact that 10/24 is my birthday should make this a fun present.

Wow, my birthday is 10/24 too! I will be in Anaheim getting ready for my free day at Disneyland. A free hotel which just be the icing on the "birthday" cake.
We will see how it all pans out.

Bummer there is none available in Seattle/WA. The closest is in Vancouver. Perhaps that gives me an excuse to get out of town for a night.

I looked at their list for Texas,
but under CITY there was no option for Austin,
only 4 other cities.
I looked at the Dallas optiions,
then selected HOUSTON,
where they listed the AUSTIN Sheraton !. :D

Somehow I'm going to bet that the Sheraton Brookhollow will participate in Houston - that's the one that gave a free night during the week of the anniversary of Hurricane Ike to anyone named Ike (like my coworker).
That properly had to undergo an extensive renovation due to the storm.

These free rooms are going to be very hard to get. Most hotels are giving away 25 rooms and they say there will be 1 random time per room selected over the 3 day period so your chance of winning is very slim.
Also you need to pick the hotel you are trying to win for so it only selects from that hotels pool of rooms.

But indeed,
the Austin Sheraton is now selectable under an AUSTIN category,
whereas it had been filed under Houston a few days ago !

Seriously! I was all excited and in the process of registering when I was turned down. Yes, I should of read the T&C's but they had participating hotels in Canada so I assumed it was valid for Canadian residents as well!

Have you read the "official rules" portion for this promotion?
Correct me if I am wrong but I suppose Clause no 7 would have answers to your comments.

Just scroll down on the rules list and it not only shows which hotels but how many rooms each hotel has alloted for the promo. Some, like the Sheraton Austin have only alloted 5 rooms and others like the Sheraton Dallas have alloted 50 rooms.
It looks like once you make your choice of hotel you can't change it. I did my second try today and found no where to change anything.

I tried a few minutes after midnight on the 6th, and got the "try again" message. They didn't give me a discount coupon, either.
I dunno, it didn't seem to be quite what the advertising implied..... in all, this hasn't endeared me to Sheraton in the slightest. Which I understand was their intent.

Congratulations!
You've won a free night on October 23 at Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles.
Look for an email from Sheraton within 48 hours with your complete prize details and your confirmation number.
To learn more about the hotel, visit sheraton.com.
However, I have yet to see this so called e-mail they inform me to look for. Only thing I've seen in my inbox/spambox is a registration confirmation e-mail.

It takes couple days since they have to process it manually. I did receive mine however no confirmation number! I wonder where I can put my SPG # in so I can earn points for incidentals.

I just remembered about this contest so I went to see if I could win. I decided to pick a "less popular" hotel (so not New York or Philadelphia) and on my first try:
You've won a free night on October 23 at Sheraton Edison Hotel

I don't think I liked this promo very much. Hard to believe only a few rooms won by FTers plus didn't realize couldn't change my first hotel after selected. We tried over popular Sheraton Waikiki- no surprise on winning, and less popular Sheraton Washington North which is basically in the middle of nowhere between DC and Baltimore. So you mean to tell me at least 25 people (if # of rooms allocated) picked that Sheraton before me on day 1?? I can't really imagine even being one person's choice!
Thanks but I'll stick to my Hyatt promotions for the rest of the year. At least I have more choice and availability after booking my two stays!

It had nothing to do with how quickly you chose it or when you logged in. There were X rooms available per hotel and if you happened to log in when one of those rooms was available (at random throughout the day) then you won.

I won a stay at the Sheraton Dallas... I'm sitting in the business center right now writing this post.
The free night was in an executive suite on the 25th floor. Pretty sweet room for only having to pay incidentals. I'm curious if everyone else got an exec suite?
My confirmation e-mail or reservation didn't say anything about that and I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived... just curious if that was the same case for all winners.
