Has anyone ever flown on US Airways with a pet as a carry-on? Just curious on personal experiences, and how strict US Airways is with size regulations, being able to stand up in the carrier, and having carrier open on the plane. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I know that carriers are never allowed to be open on the plane.
Carrier MUST fit underneath the seat in front on you

I have traveled on the US Air shuttle many times with my 10lb dog and I agree with the posts above.

I brought my cat from MD to CA in 2001 on US. They are incredibly strict about their kennel sizes, yes. I brought a hard-sided carrier (all I owned at the time) that would most certainly have fit, but they thought it was too big and made me buy one that they had... much smaller, and a LOT less comfortable for my cat. Other than that, it was a standard in-cabin experience.
(Of course, they also cancelled our non-stop flight and put us on a connecting flight instead... the cat was most certainly not happy about that.)
I highly recommend a soft-sided carrier, as they may be a little less strict about sizes and they're more able to squeeze under seats (being flexible).
If you have a choice, you might consider flying United instead and buying up to E+ seating. The extra legroom really helps with a carrier under the seat.
