Hunki and I stayed overnight in a hotel in Flushing New York prior to taking off on a cruise on the QM2. I have been fussing around all week trying to figure out how to pack twelve outfits, including two formal get-ups, two pair of dance shoes, and work out clothes and shoes into a roll-aboard. OK, it is a pretty dramatically expanded roll-aboard. :D

This morning I got up to get dressed for the day and discovered that I had forgotte to pack any underwear. :o And this from a person who has been on ten cruises and traveled over 130,000 miles every year for the past ten years. Go figure.

I quickly washed out yesterday's underwear, dried them with the blow dryer and then hung them over the lamp. Fortunately we had an incandescent light bulb in the lamp. Now we are heading off to Macy's (only a block away) to rectify the problem. Maybe I should write myself a note so I don't forget why I went there. ;)

I haven't done that yet, but have come close. Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy every minute of it.

Bon Voyage!

I forgot to pack bras last year on a 10 day trip to Orlando in the heat of the summer :o

I also didn't have a car for the trip as we were staying on Disney property so I had no opportunity to go out and buy more.

Fortunately, my husband was coming down 4 days into our trip so he grabbed some from home and put them in his suitcase. I was worried the TSA might open his bag and wonder why he was traveling with 4 bras.

:D

I washed the one I'd been wearing every night, hung it up, and had to blow-dry it to finish drying each morning until he finally arrived with my restock.

She wasn't having a senior moment, but my less well-travelled boss once flew to Rio for a business meeting and forgot to pack neutral/light bras to go with her white and pale summer suits. She had headed to the office dressed head-to-toe in black (as would be typical in the winter where we work). It was her first trip to Rio and, due to the dire warnings of our company's security consultants, was afraid to venture out on her own in Rio. So she ended up enlisting a (male) colleague (and luckily, an old friend) to go bra-shopping with her. I think he figured he'd died and gone to heaven - to go lingerie shopping in Rio.

My emergency pack in my carry on bag always has the basics: tooth brush, bra and undies and panty hose. Now, if I don't lose that......

Been there, done that, and more than once -- but the best one was earlier this year travelling with husband and brand-new large and fancy suitcase.

Husband discovered he'd failed to pack any underwear for our 10 day trip. :td: We bought some, and upon returning home discovered there was an extra compartment he hadn't noticed or searched!

I don't consider myself a senior yet, but I've also done this myself . . . black sweater to the client's site, with a white silk blouse for the next day.

I travelled with my mother to Scotland a couple of years ago, and she did the same thing. Except she found her stash before buying more!

Staying in a hotel and about to get dressed for a formal company presentation, I had everything ready - dark suit, white shirt, tie, and......white sneakers!

I have done that a number of times. If I don't put them in first, they're out of my head and I forget them. Luckily, it has always been somewhere near a store where I could buy them.

Along the same line: A bunch of us were going to a convention in LA. We all traveled together except for one woman who was traveling in So CAL with her husband. He dropped her off and took off by car for home, an 8 hr drive. She opened her suitcase, identical to his, and found his stuff. Not a good idea to have identical bags! Needless to say, she did a lot of shopping. Her meds were the biggest problem and she spent a lot of time on the phone getting the prescriptions filled locally. We had a good laugh at her expense.

Karen, your post reminds me of an event that happened a number of years ago. My husband was on a business trip to SFO of all places and returned home, opened his suitcase, and it was full of womens clothing. I was shocked to say the least

Turns out, he had the identical bag as another traveler and both of them had taken the wrong one from the carousel. Fortunately for my husband he was home but the poor gal was in a NYC hotel with some strangers dirty clothes in 'her' suitcase. Luckily, Delta sent someone to switch out the bags for both of them.

We never leave the carousel without checking name tags now ;)
