This is what the OP was supposed to read:
I've had the Briggs and Riley Expandable Overnight Briefcase (http://www.briggs-riley.com/businesscases/nonrolling/231_expandableovernightercomputerbrief.asp) (mine might be a previous model) for seven or eight years and it's just schwagged out. It's been back to B+R once for a warranty repair but at this point it's getting too ratty to be more than a backup.
Wanting to get something a little nicer, I have my eye on the Hartmann Triple Compartment Briefcase in Belting Leather (http://www.hartmann.com/shop/productDetail.asp?sku=5090). Part of the appeal is that the natural leather would acquire the patina of age. Kind of like I'm doing as I exit my 30s.
Any comments on this bag, or similar bags? Tips on getting a deal on this $600 piece?
Thanks.

I would be concerned about the weight. In my limited experience with leather it is heavier than ballistic. Also, a lot of leather bags dont have as much in terms of compartments and pockets inside. I guess I really like the look of leather but havent been overly impressed with its practicality.

I just bought the Tumi Generation 4.4 Briefs Medium Capacity Expandable Flap Brief (http://www.luggageonline.com/product.cfm?product_ID=8589&CMP=OTC-FRGLE&GCID=C15228x020&KEYWORD=Tumi8589) for $430 from a Tumi store.
Last years models just went on sale.
It is heavier than ballistic, but I'm lovin it.

Nice looking bag. I'm concerned about the weight gain from the roller/handle combo, though. Of course the point is that the wheels mean that you don't have to schlep the bag, but still not the type I'm looking for. Appreciate the pointer though.

This bag doesn't have wheels since it is designed to be a briefcase. Zippers on the back allow the handle of a roller to be slipped through - allowing the bag to piggyback on a roller.

Ah. I missaw the bottom photo on the linked page.
