Anyone have experience with this bag? (http://www.ebags.com/ebags/unxpected_weekend_carry_all/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=88869)
Not to get too far into the debate of wheeled vs. non-wheeled carry on bags, but I am thinking of converting over to non-wheeled since I am the "New Yorker" type who likes to slip quickly past people in a crowd. The RedOxx bags are nice but pricey, and this bag seems like a decent lower cost alternative that fits within most airline guidelines.

I've not used the one you've mentioned, but I have a couple of
bags from E-Bags and they've been great in terms of quality.
Here is what I have.. ( been using it for 4 years I think)

I recently picked up that bag and was pleased with it's performance. It seems to be built well and can hold a good amount of stuff. I was able to fit an Eagle Creek Pack-it Folder, Pack-it Cube and ebags shoe bag along with the KHIAI bag and charging cables.
The carrying handles join together with magnets and the outside paperwork pocket also closes with a magnet. One of the 2 outside accessory pockets is lined with fleece. The back sleeve for carrying it on a roll-aboard has a zipper on the bottom to use it as a pocket. However, since it is only a zipper, things can fall out of the back pocket when in use.
Some negatives: It's not as large as the ebags weekender convertible or some airline's maximum sizes. It also does not have any backpack straps, so it can be a pain to lug around with just a shoulder strap. Also, I don't know if this was a shipping error but I ordered the titanium bag and received a gunmetal bag. It's not quite the same color as pictured but gunmetal isn't even offered on the website.
Overall, it's a good bag for the price and doesn't look too unprofessional. ^

Hmmm...now I'm a bit torn between the Weekend Carry-all and the Weekender Convertible that thenewbie mentioned.
I generally prefer a shoulder bag rather than a backpack just because it seems to be a bit more "professional". I know that I could get a shoulder strap for the Convertible, but it still looks a little more "backpack" like to me than the Carry-all. I know that the backpack is much better ergonomically, and probably also easier to maneuver.
I do like the extra space and the cinch straps on the Convertible, but I would prefer a bag that is "guaranteed" to be allowed on board as a carry-on. I know I can just under-pack the Convertible, and squish it into any template, but I think the Carry-all is unlikely to draw any attention from a GA for reasons of size.
And then there's the fact that I'm cheap (since the initial goal was to get something like the high-end bags for less money), and that the Convertible is 50% ($20) more (or only $10 more if I get the black one, but I like having bright colors, one of the other things I like about the Carry-all, which is available in orange).
Grrrrrr. Thanks for making my decision a lot harder, thenewbie.

Since I didn't specify earlier, the pack-it folder I was able to fit into the carry-all was the 18".
Some negatives about the convertible: If fully packed, it can likely exceed the carry on guidelines. You'd have to gate check it for CRJs, but you should be able to fit the carry-all under the seat. The convertible may be larger than needed for some shorter trips, so the carry-all bag may be a better size overall.
Also, the prices at ebags change every couple of days depending on their "sales" and links used to access the page. There are 20% off discounts or 10% off plus free shipping (see below). The carry-all at $35.99 w/ the 10% off discount is still a very good carry on bag.

Thanks for the tips and the coupons. I decided to go with the Weekend Carry-all, primarily for the reasons that you noted. For this particular trip, we will have other luggage, so I don't need a maximum size bag. I'll keep the Convertible in mind if I end up traveling more often in the future.

eBags Professional Tote is one of the best we've found for quick trips, extra bag, etc. It is even large enough to carry our small laptop bag, plus a LOT of other stuff. It's amazing how much we can get in it. Size is 15" x 12.5" x 9" I sometimes wish it were a tiny bit larger, but it still works for most everything on short trips, or as a "personal carry on" for longer trips.
