Every day?

A couple of times a week?

Only on the weekends?

Once a month?

Once a year?

Never?

When I did, it was.....uhhhh.....pretty much any time I was conscious :D

Not sure if this is specific enough for a DiningBuzz thread, being so nonspecific to drinking places or drinks. Otherwise Hello, OMNI!

I enjoy a drink on 'weekends' but my definition includes Thursday as well as Friday nights. ;)

Preferably in quality, but quantity sometimes happens too.

Each and every single day of my adult life and I always thank the Lord for inventing the stuff.
The anticipation of opening an untried bottle of wine;the joy of walking into a new pub and seeing a beer you've never seen before;the first drink of the day which is always a Gordon's and Tonic;the glass of chilled champagne on a summer's day;the rum and black nightcap;the Bloody Mary as you settle into your decent seat on a transatlantic flight;the glass of peaty single malt in Scotland;the dark 9% Belgian beer that's so strong it rattles your fillings;mulled wine on a cold winter's evening;a pint of Bass in the Ear Bar in NYC; a pint of scrumpy cider;a bottle of Normandy cider straight from the farmer;the tequila cocktails from Bally's Tequila Bar in Vegas;the ice-cold Tiger beer with a Thai Green curry; the pint of creamy stout in my Irish local ... I adore alcohol in every shape or form except brandy.Simply can't bear the stuff.

Nearly every day. There are periods in which I will not have a drink for a week or several weeks, but I would say that 90% of the time I at least have a drink a day.

Now if you take the number of drinks I consume on average and average it across the number of days I've been alive, I've drank since I was in diapers. :D

Never, these days.

Actually, 'these days' will be a decade, as of the 24th of this month!

The only thing I miss is the flavour: there are precious few soft drinks with the complex flavours of many alcoholic drinks. They do seem to be on the increases these days, though, which is cheering.

Very rarely these days - maybe one drink every 3 to 4 weeks... no time to go out!

Every time you have fruit juice that is not freshly squeezed then you are consuming minute amounts of alcohol :D
I don't drink booze,I will have an non alcoholic beer or a Bitters and soda now and then-these also have minute traces of alcohol.
Some over eager friends chastise me for this :rolleyes:I always tell them If I ever want to go back to drinking I won't waste my time on unleaded pi#s or medicinal tasting refreshments.

Very rarely any more, but for years I would drink 8-10 beers a day. And almost exclusively in my neighborhood bar. Don't even like to think about the money I pissed (literally) away.

I'm a woman on a mission at dinnertime. I love to cook and it just seems natural that a glass of Chardonnay goes with the dinner. Although I admit that it also goes well with the nights we eat dinner out.

It was 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle of wine every day. Now that I've gone back to the gym, I drink the day I dont go work out which comes out to about 2-3 drinking days per week.

Usually only when it's free, and usually only one or two, if I'm in the mood.

In the last year, I'd guess I've had about 15 drinks. 95% on airplanes or in airport lounges. I will occasionally drink a sip of wine or other alcoholic drinks I haven't tried before, to see what they taste like, but rarely a full drink of unknown "amIgonnalikethisstuff".

Whenever I'm in an airport lounge - ~100x a year;
whenever I'm dining in a restaurant - ~100x a year;
after every concert - ~100x a year;
when I'm with friends - ~65x a year.

I used to drink 3-4 times a week... Each time being enough to catch a buzz, although sometimes much more.

When I was travelling, it was out to dinner, at the hotel after work, on the plane, at the lounge. 7 days a week.

Since I have been dieting, I have cut it down to once every week if not two weeks. Much much less. And I am sure, better for me. :)

I drink more when I'm traveling. It helps alleviate the stress that comes with all of the security crap, long lines, delayed flights, etc. Its much more likely to happen if I'm in an airport with a smoking bar. I've never gotten too drunk to board a plane but I'm quite sure boarding agents could smell the booze on many occasions.

I once met a guy at MSP in a tiny bar nestled in the Intl departure area. (Some of you may know it. It's the one with all the foreign currencies displayed) The guy had gotten smashed and was told he couldn't fly. What does he do? Return to the same bar and have more drinks while waiting to (hopefully) catch the next flight to his destination. The bar owner kept serving him and said he could stay as long as he wanted or until the bar closed. The guys speech was slurred and he was staggering when he tried to walk. Some people never learn.

Very rarely. Once a year, at most, and only in the form of a mixed drink like a margarita.

I've only had a few sips of beer in my life---I don't see its appeal---and I don't "get" wine.

Alcohol, to me, is too confusing and too expensive...I don't understand the point of spending $20 on something and not knowing before hand if I will like it or not.

Hats off to those of you who, despite having free minibars as a RA or other program benefit - or having access to half-decent wines, spirits and champers, can take a couple of days off every week to allow your liver some rest!

Having a few days off makes the other days more enjoyable.

When on a holiday, of course I must sample every drink on offer - unless there is a nice single-malt or wine which I need to try in-depth. :)

at least one a day...after that London Study where they said having 1-2 drinks (any drinks) will lengthen your life by 7 yrs...my wife has stopped nagging me about it.

This was published in Dec 2007 while I was in India and I saw it in the Time of India.

I don't drink all that much--I will have a glass of wine or an Old Fashioned now and then, or a good beer (life's too short to drink bad beer) or two, but in general, maybe once or twice a month. I've been known to go six months without a drop, then have a few beers and then go another six months without. Not because I'm anti-alcohol, just not something I do often. Though I have come to realize that when drunk, I seem to think I'm a genius and offer my opinion to any and all. This assertion (that I'm a genius and everyone needs to listen to me) has yet to be corroborated by anyone who's seen me in that state. :o So I try to hold myself short of getting that far.

I tend to drink more during business dinners. A couple of glasses of wine and maybe 1 cocktail is the norm.
At home, a good glass of red wine from time to time. Beer? I bought a case (you can only buy beer by the case in PA) before the Super Bowl. I have consumed maybe 7 or 8 beers from this case.
There was a time in my 20's and 30's where I could hang all night with co-workers at conventions or seminars and get totally blitzed. I would then bounce back easily for an 8 AM meeting.
Alas, those days are over. Now if I overindulge, I feel like crap until noon. So, I just don't do it.

Not often enough.

I was just thinking that as well! :D

In reality though, I consume alcohol 1-3 times a week, but generally in copious amounts (still in college...;)). Lately though I've been moving to enjoying a nice drink or two of bourbon or scotch when I'm at home watching tv before bed. I also have the occasional beer with my meals (I like the fruit based ones like pumpkin ale or apricot ale).

If I'm out with friends on a Friday/Saturday then it's generally lots of crappy beer and jaeger bombs. If I'm really looking to get sloppy, I'll bring along my own bottle of Knob Creek and sip on about half of that all night :p

It's always fun to see people from cultures where they cannot refuse the offer of a drink.

I always ask them anyway.
If they do not say yes they are quite ill or dead.

I almost never refuse a wine tasting, unless I know it the taste is worse than the buzz. Usually there is one among the dogs that will be worth a try. :)

Whether it be a cocktail when I come home from work, a glass of wine (or two) with dinner or a beer. I have 1-2 drinks*, three or four evenings out of a week.

*Ok, when I make a vodka tonic, I tend to go a wee bit heavy on the vodka so maybe each of my homemade mixed drinks counts as two. :p

I know that feeling. Unfortunately, my interest in fermented or distilled beverages has plummeted since I gave up nicotine late last year. Alcohol without cigarettes holds little fascination for me.

I may credit you because I may have to use that. I typically drink 4-5 days out of the week. College football Saturdays are often excessive. During the week, generally one double in a pint glass.

Friday and Saturday nights, usually.

I've been mostly drinking wine these days.

I hardly drink during the week -- M-Th is my time to eat healthy, exercise, and treat my body right. Weekends are for fun.

I have to say that I've cut down my drinking a lot in the last year, and I feel 200% better.

For me, it depends if I am travelling.

Travel - every day after work, taking advantage of free beers in Club lounges etc.
Non-Travel - Fri/Sat/Sun only, taking advantage of my home brew - at .20c a beer, you can't go wrong.

Cheers

I used to drink on Friday and saturday nights twice a month.

I tried looking it up online and it seems to be something called asian flush but I am white?

Sanosuke!

I do my part to balance out the sobriety of other posters by drinking as often as possible. However, in my current location (where alcohol is difficult to procure) and with my omnipresent cough (where alcohol is less likely to stay in the shot glass and more likely to interact with medication), I am drinking a lot less than I used to at home.

Ah Chicago, I remember you fondly. :)
