Qantas Airways said it will set up an online travel agency in alliance with a number of the Asia Pacific's largest airlines. Qantas expects to set by the end of 2000 and is currently in talks with six carriers. "We would go in as an equity partner. Singapore Airlines Ltd. (P.SAL) has certainly expressed a lot of interest in being a part of these things," David Burden, Qantas' Executive General Manager of Corporate Services, told reporters after the World Transport Summit in Sydney. Burden said Qantas expects to make an announcement by July as part of the carrier's broader electronic commerce strategy.
