What is the best way to get from the college park metro station to BWI, and about how long does it take?
Two options that come to mind:
1. Take the metro to Amtrak, and the train to BWI
2. Take the metro to the Greenbelt station and the bus to BWI

Number two is the way to go - quicker, cheaper, and runs 7 days.

thirding option 2. I've done the Metro-Greenbelt & bus-BWI many times. It's an easy little trek.

Option 2 is better of course, but the OP did not make clear if he meant driving or public transportation.
Another vote for option #2. How long it takes will vary depending on what time you get to the bus stop. Buses run every 30 minutes and take about 30 minutes to get to BWI.

If you're a little adventurous, and have a lot of time to kill on a weekday, and the weather is nice, you could also take the Camden Line MARC from College Park to Camden Station, then backtrack south on the Baltimore Light Rail to BWI.
Otherwise, echoing the crowd, Metrorail Green Line to Greenbelt and then Metrobus B30 is the best route by transit.
