I thought it was way overpriced and disappointing.
The first part, walking out to the ledge, is pretty exciting, but the actual fall is disappointing. When I do a sky dive or a bungy jump, I want to feel the acceleration. None of that in the sky tower jump.
I'd rather do a sky dive or a bungy jump from the AKL harbour bridge, but since you've prepaid the sky tower jump, I guess that's not an option unless you want to do the sky tower jump and another type of jump.

You are allowed to cancel up to the day of and even right before as long as you do not go up to the top then you are stuck paying.
I realize that the fall is secondary. I have done skydiving that is a HUGE rush.
I am scared of heights so it is probably more thrilling to me than you.

I don't like heights either and walking on the glass floor of the observation deck actually scared me more than the walk out to the ledge right before the jump from the tower :)
I know that others love the sky tower jump (and don't let my opinion stop you if you really want to go. It's still a pretty cool activity), but in my personal opinion I would rather spend the money on a couple of bungy jumps.

I tried standing on the glass floor at the CN Tower and couldn't do it so I understand.

I think it's worth it, especially if you aren't keen on doing a bungy jump - it's kind of the next best thing.
Unlike a bungy jump you aren't tied by your feet so you freefall upright and it's not as fast as the guide ropes slow you down a little. You also don't bounce at the bottom.
Having said that, if you are really keen on bungy jumping you may be dissapointed because it's not the same. Goto Huka Falls near Taupo or just out of Queenstown to do some of the best ones in NZ

I am not interested in bungee because I hurt my back and I think it would aggravate it.

A bungee jump *might* aggravate a back injury, but it really isn't as jerky as you would expect. The way that the cord stretches out is very gradual - you almost don't notice that you're changing direction until you do so. OTOH, I find that most bungee harnesses chafe on my hips after a while, so it depends on exactly how your back is injured.

I also think the sky jump isn't as good as bunjy or skydiving.
If it is the heights/view that you are after also consider the climb to the crows nest (Vertigo) - quite a bit higher than where the sky jump is. Not sure if it is still operating though?

Didn't I mention I am scared of heights? I have skydived and I can do the Sky Jump but just because it takes just a moment to make the commitment then there is no turning back.
I can't climb anything like that. Really....physically my legs buckle and I can't walk.
