I'd like to rent either a car or cargo van for 1 day this weekend & went by the Woodley Park Enterprise which informed me that 1) they don't offer the 50% weekend special that is advertised on their website, and 2) if I want to rent for a full day on Saturday (i.e. a return after 12 o'clock noon), I have to pay for a 2nd day as well because they aren't open until Monday. Quite frankly, I don't see why the customer should have to be penalized by paying for an extra day simply because they aren't open. Moreover, when I've rented from Hertz, they have had a place where you could get a time stamp and then drop your keys...why Enterprise doesn't have something similar is beyond me!).

I live in Woodley Park & would prefer to do a one-day in town rental rather than going out to DCA. Are there any other options? Thanks in advance, FTers :-)

Don't think you're going to have much choice about Metro-ing out to DCA. The major car rental companies used to have downtown locations (their own garage, ready cars, and service facilities), but that all disappeared with redevelopment downtown.

Why don't you check with the concierge at the Marriott Wardman Park? They might have a good idea for you.

I wouldn't expect to find a van, and their rates might not be that competitive, but there is some rental car access at Union Station - i am not sure which company, Hertz or maybe Avis. I would think if its at Union Station it would be open 7 days a week.

Great idea for a possible Union Station rental. You can call Travelers Aid there at (202) 371-1937 and see if they have contact information.

There's a small Avis on Conn. Av. near Albemarle (or was, a couple of months ago)...maybe they can help.

This Avis location is in the back of the Days Inn. I think they are open until 7weeknights.
