I saw on US website that you can upgrade international segments for 30,000 miles. What about Partners like UA and LH international? Is there any way to upgrade on these airlines using US mileage?

P.S. I am a Gold Preferred Member if that makes a difference.

There has been talk about using US miles to upgrade on Star Alliance flights. But as of today, you can not use US Miles to upgrade on any other metal flights.

Keep in mind your fare has to cost a minimum of $1200 as well.
