I'm flying in and out of DCA next week. I remember reading on here a few months ago that they had got rid of the First/Preferred Line. Is that still the case?

None there this past Saturday- Only an express line for LGA/BOS shuttle flyers.

I've seen it come and go - during some of the peak travel times they will start the line, but for the most part it's not been there when I have been.

Recent thread made it sound like it's a rare bird at DCA. I've been through there a couple times in the last few weeks and will again on Thu...and have not spotted this endangered species. Lines were short though.

I fly in and out of there a lot and I just use the express shuttle line. As a CP who is almost always in first no one ever says a word to me.

I actually asked them about this--- First/Preferred is supposed to be the same line as BOS/NY but they took the First/Preferred sign down because apparently some found it too confusing for one line to have 2 signs and the other 2 lines to have no signs. Go figure...
I rarely go in that line anyway; it looks shorter till you get up close and see how it hooks waaaay around to the left, plus you have to go through the puffer and the metal detector so it usually takes longer than the other lines.
FWIW if you're flying out of the middle-number gates (20-something to 34 or so) there is a Preferred entrance to that security line.

I've always found the preferred lanes at DCA (either US or Continental) to be worthless -- most people don't see the sign and the line ends up just as long as the regular line. I've never tried checking in at the shuttle but I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea, though I doubt they'd care if you are CP (which I am not anymore).

I actually had an experience at DCA where US wouldn’t check me in at the First Class line at the main ticket counter for a Shuttle flight. I was flying weekly to visit Mrs. East Coast Wing in NYC and had been using the kiosk every Friday but in this case the kiosk had a technical issue so I went over to the counter and was promptly told to go down to the Shuttle check-in. Maybe there was a reason for it but it didn’t make sense at the time.
