View Full Version : Fare class on codeshare credited to US

OK here's a complex issue (for me).

- I'm planning to go overseas next month.
- I have to take more than one carrier - my home airport and destination are not served by the same airline
- My preferred option is on UA and SAS
- If I book through united.com, fare class "S" comes up for all flights, which is 100% mile credit to US
- The TA sectors are operated by SAS with UA codeshare #
- Fare class "S" is creditable on SAS, but is it possible that the "S" fare on UA is something else on SAS (i.e. I'm not sure if the "actual" fare class on SAS is "S" - it's "S" on the UA codeshare, and some fares such as "W" only get 25% miles)

Any idea if I'll get 100% miles credited to US?

Well, I can only share one experience but a LH flight I took last week in "S" that was on a UA flight number credited 50% on US. US gives 100% for UA "S" and 50% on LH "S" so US apparently goes with the % given based on metal not marketing airline - again based on just one flight so I by no means know for sure if this is correct or an anomoly.

I actually just spoke to the Gold desk and the competent-sounding lady checked with her supervisor and said that the miles are credited per the flight number ticketed, regardless of metal, so since this would be a UA flight number, it would be credited per the UA fare class.

I guess it's a shot in the dark if I'll get the miles or not...

Interesting and MIGHT answer my question....

So I have a UN ticket stock flight....

BOS-FRA-TXL LH metal UN Flight Number
TXL-FRA-BOS LH metal LH Flight Numbers

The ticket rules say S class...

So if you are correct, I get 50% eventhough its UN flight, but LH metal
I get 50% on the second because its LH either way.

Does that sound correct? Screwed again?

On a related note...

If I have some Z class fare on LH metal, I should get 150% credited to US... right? Thinking about paying the $200 "fine" and rebooking....

Now should I take LH Z or US Z? Same price, but I get double miles on the US metal.... What do you think?:D
