Recently, I got my US citizenship with a new first name. The US, although does not encourage it, allows dual citizenship, which is also allowed in my original country. Here is the situation, I book two international tickets using my original first name. One of them is the NYC-ROM fare and in this itinerary, I plan to use my US passport. I already discussed the situation with the airlines concerned and I was told to bring the two passports and the court order for the name change to ensure that I am the same person in these two passports. My question is, when I go to the immigration, do I have to show both passports or only the US passport which allow me to enter Italy without a visa? My other passport requires me a visa to enter Italy. Did this situation happen to an FT before? I would appreciate if you will share your experience with the immigration and with the airline agents.

When you arrive in Italy, just show your US passport. They are not cross checking your plane tickets, the airlines must do it for TSA regulations. The Italian immigration authorities just need to see a valid passport for entry into Italy.
