View Full Version : LACSA Z and TAM I fares (coach for business/business for coach)

As already discussed, many websites (including expertflyer and ITA) show TAM (JJ) I class as discount business when in TAM it belongs to a coach sit.

Yesterday I found expertflyer saying that LACSA (LR) Z was business while TACA (TA) Z (same company) was coach. EZE-MEX-EZE $539+ in Z. After contacting my TA friend, Z for taca belongs to "deep discount economy".

If expertflyer lists LR-Z as Business and TA-Z as coach, it means they take the info from some table that correlates the fare letter, the company and the class.

Anybody knows if this table is dynamically provided (and filled) by the airlines or if its done by the websites/systems big admins? In the first case, it would be an airline mistake that would probably have to be honored... (ok, Taca agents are not so easy)

In any case, did anyone buy any of these fares? Did anyone have any luck getting a business class seat?

Is there any website where you actually can buy those fares that list them as business class?

There is no automated source for this data. All of the pricing systems must maintain a database by hand, generally by communicating directly with each airline.

There is a proposal for a way to distribute the data in an automated fashion, but the industry standards process takes a while.

When you notice we've got it wrong on matrix.itasoftware.com, please do let us know via the "comments" link on our site, and our data team will fix it.

The codes to cabin designations are submitted by the airlines to the GDS and appear as a static table which we access and store on our servers. Airlines will change and sometimes not update the GDS records. We can, however, manually change or modify descriptions when we know something else to be the case.

We will change the descriptions for JJ's I to Economy as the fare rules for a sample fare indicate it is for Economy. We don't distiguish between levels of discount within Economy class.

As for LR's Z class, the fare rules for this class indicate it is an Economy fare and we will change it also.

And thank you ^ to leandrorar for bringing this to our attention.
