Hello,

I'm looking to book a stay at Maritime Park and Spa Resort - Is Asia Web Direct a legit site?

It seems to be the booking engine for: http://www.krabi-hotels.com/hotels/index.htm

Thanks!

(Also, is that a good hotel to stay at? 12/27-12/30 doesn't leave many choices.)

Yes, they are a major website booking agent in Thailand.

u can also try www.asiarooms.com if u want to compare prices. asiarooms has customer reviews that can be helpful. the disadvantage is that, for online bookings, u need to wait for up to 24 hours before the booking can be confirmed.

It's probably worth checking www.asiativ.com too

Its a lot less stressful booking through AWD.

Unless you are looking at very, very substantial savings, I wouldnt bother with asiarooms. If you can confirm a room with them within 24hrs, you are indeed very lucky. Of all the major booking websites, asiarooms has the worst reputation !

i've dealt with asiarooms several times, so i must have been one of the lucky ones not to encounter difficulties. i once even managed to change accommodation to a slightly more expensive place without too much trouble though, yes, the 24-hour wait can be stressful!

If you travel to Thailand or Asia often, Agoda.com should be considered as an alternative. Agoda has a rewards program that when applied makes their bookings cheaper than any other site I have found. Some reservations are instant and for some you have to wait for up to 24 hours.

FWIW, I tried booking a room via AWD - and it instantly said it was confirmed.

Until 12 hours later when it checked with the hotel and realized that it was not confirmed.

Try sawadee.com, I have always found them excellent, they have a good reputation and they are very fast on confirming as the booking requests go straight to the hotels when you request online. Also you are only asked for 1 night initial deposit and that is only once they have offered you a confirmed room. We pay the remaining amount 15 days before check-in. Works very well indeed.
