Any idea of what birds they are going to operate on that route - 737s like they do to SIN/KUL/BKK? It is a high volume enough route that a larger bird would certainly get filled up.

.. and yes, I see that DXB and SHJ - the two largest cash cows - have been specifically excluded, and it is still AI/IC and EK on those routes.

Most of the press reports mention that the flts will be operated using 737s. Some of the routes may be operated by JetLite (the erstwhile Air Sahara) as it is their lower cost version competing with Air India Express. In addition to getting all their JetLite equipment operational, they're also looking to lease additional aircraft.

Most of the jetlite equipment is aging classic 737s - 737-400 mostly. 9W will certainly have a job on their hands overhauling these birds.
