View Full Version : US making me want to slam my head against a wall

Used DM's to get to Vegas this winter for the annual Bosnyc 'N Friends weekend in Vegas trip. When I booked (~4-5 weeks ago), the evening non-stop was not avail. at the Saver level. Fine, no big deal, always wanted to see Sky Harbor <<sarcasim>>. Anyways, today I notice the 8pm flight is avail. at the Saver rate. Score...or so I thought. Call #1 to US, "Sorry, can't help you. I know you see Saver, but I don't so you're SOL. Supervisor: sorry. Call online res" Call #2 to online res, "can't help you call DM Service Center" Call #3 to I forget who now, "same as #1 and #2." Online chat, "<<buzzer>> you lose." Call #5 gets me through to an agent who at least tries to help. She sees where I see the saver, sees that she can't see the saver, and is at wits end on what to do. At this point I bring up that because of a schedule change my connection time at PHX is now 46 minutes. Coming from the East Coast, that connection's not happening in Jan. As great as Phoenix is in January, It's not where I want to spend a night. She notes in the PNR that because of a sched. change, I can cancel and have the $100 fee waived or I can call customer service on Monday to see if they can have IT fix the problem. I call back ( lost track of call #) and get another semi-helpful agent who also says the showing of Saver avail. is an error. I complain about bait-and-swich and get sent to another agent who tells me "It doesn't matter what usairways.com says, this itin is not bookable." So at that point I have an idea: Book and take up US's offer to x-cel the original itin. If the agent is right that it's not bookable, fine. But lets see. Sure enough, ticketed with no problem. Agent can't cancel the original reservation and gives me a supervisor who tell me $100 fee applies. I go balistic. I ask her to read the notes in the PNR and it still takes ~30 minutes to cancel the 1st res. and reseposit the miles.

I think the title pretty much sums everything up. I feel sorry for you folks who have to deal with this incompitance on a regular basis. Is it standard practice on US for a) agents to lie, b) DM awards showing avail. online but "aren't really avail?"

sounds like a typical US Air experience.

At least you were able to get through to them. I've been trying for an hour and a half to book an itin on hold that expires at midnight tonight (1.5 hours from now), and the reservations computer has been down the entire time. :td:
