I'm flying my son to EWR in October, and he has to get to the Javits Center (38th street?). I haven't been to EWR in years, but I think there used to be a train/bus/something that would get you in midtown Manhattan reasonably reliably and inexpensively.

Any suggestions? He'll probably have a little bit of luggage, maybe just a rollaboard and a laptop.

To get to the Javits Center, he can take either the train to Penn Station or the bus to Port Authority. The Javits Center is just a few blocks west of either.
