Hi all.

I'm looking for cheap extended stay options in MNL and/or other areas in the PI. A simple studio with a short term monthly rate is what I need. Just something simple and clean. (WIFI would be nice, tho :)). No rock bottom hostels with mouse droppings, please. :td:

Malate, Makati, QC, or Clark would be fine. I'm easy. If I need to move somewhere further out in the country somewhere, I'm willing to explore that too.

Any suggestions? Any 'regular' hotels w good rates you can recommend? (Even the prices on asiarooms.com is not floating my boat).

So far all I'm finding are places priced at about 2X what I could get the same thing for in BKK/PNH. In other words, all I'm finding is $36 per nite hotels that I could get for $17 in BKK.

Mebbe even something cheap with scuba nearby...???

Scuba's great at the beach along the Baywalk on Roxas Blvd., right around the Padre Faura intersection. ;)

Supply/demand has really shifted in Ermita in the past 3 years or so. More people came (lots of them other Asians, like Koreans), and they didn't have a way to build fast enough. One of my places in Ermita that was P999 on P56/$1 four years ago is now P1,499 at P44/$1, effectively a doubling. Many costs in the PI are cheaper and can be better value than Thailand, but lodgings in Manila aren't one of them.

(You might have some luck booking 5-day blocks with the Orbitz $200-off deal detailed in the Hotel Deals subforum, though).
