I'm after some advice for my upcomming AY flight.

I've previously flown in the A319 and A340's, I've found them to be quite nice.

Anyway my next flight is KRK-HEL-HKG and the HEL-HKG is on the MD-11 which i understand has a 3-4-2 and a 3-4-3 Y cabin.

Leaving on the 30th and its a night time flight, so i would really apreciate if it was possible to obtain a space in the better Y cabin or an exit row. This is because i would like to spend the entire day 7am - midnight running around hong kong before my connection.

Qantas member, however my silver status is not showing (points backlog), so i dont have any help there, and i'm on an O class ticket.

Hi davem4,

Be aware on 28th (about 36 hrs before Your flight) and check available seats in Finnair E-check-in service.

Depending on MD-11 there can be zero exit seats in aircraft.
If this HKG aircraft has exit seats You can't pick them in e-check in. You have to ask them at the counter in KRK or in HEL.

Only economy exit seats in four Finnair's orginal MD-11s are 41ABC. Three other "imported" MD-11 have zero exitrows in Y.

If seat 22H is free, pick that up. There is unlimited legspace and comfortable Y seat.

I dont know how i was reading this on the website, i somehow saw 72 hours and i'm wondering if there is something wrong with me not being able to check in.

So i'll give it a shot today at 11:30pm for my KRK flight, or at 3:50am tomorow morning for my HEL flight.

I will try at the counter + at transfer desks, i usualy have aout a 80% exit row + 5% empty 3/4 seats + 5% upgrade success however i'm abit concerned on this flight becase its a red eye and there is no transfer counter at KRK and polish is not my primary language (if i dont have success with checkin agent, then try and sweet talk someone at the ticket counter).

Now wait about 15-16hrs because 36 hrs before Your flight is on Thursday 4:50AM Finnish time.

That 36 hrs before flight in not sharp, Your flight can be seen also about 40 hrs before departure in e-check in service.

Only thing that may throw You to 3-4-3 is Your class "O". "O"s usually have seat in rear but I hope You get seat from 3-4-2 cabin if ask that one at the counter.

I did online checkin today at 9am, Finnair allready assigned 27 J + L :)
Its a non exit row aircraft.

Changed it to 27 H + J :-) So it should be a nice flight.
