Sounds sketchy, but it isn't. I'm looking for a hotel room in midtown for about 5 hours next week between meetings and a flight to India where what I really want to do is watch TV, shower and take a nap.
Does such a thing exist?

Yes, but be careful, as you have mixed up the terms.
What you want is a day rate.
The term "hourly rates" in the New York City hotel context generally refers to establishments that cater to prostitution.

I think if you call and explain they may be more than willing if they have space. I'm thinking any hotel that handles the airline crowd, I always see attendants and pilots leaving the Mellinium (the one in midtown, not the world trade one) when we do an event there, they leave at like 6 or so in the evening to catch planes, they were probably day rates.
