Hello,
I need to know which type of aircraft Finnair is using from Helsinki to Osaka Kansai and back.
This is for the end of August 2007.
Thank you very much in advance for your answers. :)

It would be the trusty old MD-11. Beware of tech troubles!
Thank you for your answer, flyingfinn.
I thought it was that aircraft although I wasn't sure.
I have Japanese friends who will be travelling your way very soon, a family, the father, mother and daughter. The father is not in the best of health. I advised that he did not fly but they still want to do the trip.
I will have to locate the aircraft seat map so to find them the most suitable Economy seats so they don't arrive in Finland half dead.

I'm afraid that's not going to be an easy task. While you can prebook seats in Y, they won't let you pick a good seat unless your booking class is one of the most expensive ones or you are AY+ Plat (or Gold?).
The first row that is usually available for advance reservations for everyone is row 28. Rows 21-27 and 41 are usually blocked, though in a couple of cases I have managed to snatch the best Y seat, 22H, even with an O class fare. Don't know why they don't always block them.
The blocked seats might not be available at OLCI either, so your best bet would be to have the family arrive at the check in desk as early as possible.

One call to Finnair customer service and a good story could give them good seats. But of course it depends on many different things.
Thank you all for your help.
I will phone/email the family and let them know about your recommendations.

Explain the health issue and ask for seats on row 21.
The news is that the family checked in early at KIX and upon explaining the medical problem at check-in, they were given the seats on row 21.
They were very happy and they had a good flight. They will do the same on their return trip.
Thank you again Finnair flyers for your help and advice. :)
