Edited to add:

Please do not suggest backpacks as I have zero interest in such bags.
Thank you.

I got the tamrac turbo cyberpro and love it. I only wish it had weels. It's too dang heavy with a 350D, 3 lenses, laptop and other stuff. After a trip I look like someone has beaten my left shoulder as it is bruised.

Did find a rolling compact tote (http://www.briggs-riley.com/travel/totes/308_wheeledcompacttote.asp) at LHR from Brigg & Riley. I can actually fit the camera in it with out taking it apart! It has two compartments so one would work great for the laptop.

goplaces.co.uk (http://www.goplaces.co.uk/acatalog/Baseline_Companion_Tote.html) has it at a great deal. Very tempting.

My other rolling computer case, would take the camera but is sadly too big to fit within regulated size restriction these days. And any other rolling carry on that fit size would still tempt checkin to weigh the bag. Not something I want.

Small, compact and fit camera + laptop is what I want.

The Tamrac is sadly going to be shipped out on ebay. *sigh*

ARGH!

Take a look at this bag from Lowepro

http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpacks/notebook_camera/Rolling_CompuTrekker_AW.aspx

We just took it on Safari to africa a trip that featured 14 different flights from light Cessna aircraft to 777's. This bag fit easily in the overhead storage on every flight (even with it overstuffed). And fit easily in the behind the seat storage in the cessna.

It's a great little bag which easily hanlded a Canon Digital Rebel XT, with attached 24-105, 100-400 in case, 100mm macro, all of our camera supplies, and a pair of binoculars to boot. The monopod was stuffed in a separate carryon.

We have never managed to wear out a LowePro product, although they do scream 'camera'. This one is similar to a Domke designed product which is very hard to find.

The LowePro products just keep on going and going.

I can't use backpacks. I tend to lean forwards when I walk as is. With a backpack I topple over. Already tried.

Wheels is the only option.

Pay a little more attention to the description on their web site.

It's still a back pack, one with wheels but a back pack.

But you don't need to use it as a backpack. We didn't use it that way once. It's small it fits under the seat, it fits in the overhead compartment, it's fits a lot of equipment, and it rolls just as easily and conveniently as a roll only bag.

If you hate having the unused straps on the back, cut them off.

Ok, I'll have a second look. The do look like they fit a lot of gear, that is true. I think there is a shop in town that have them.

I'm just not fond of the whole backpack look.

Cut off the straps. Viola, roller back with no backpack;)

I have a regular MiniTrekker AW and take it everywhere. Very sturdy.

Think Tank Photo has a new smaller rolling bag that might fit your needs -

The thing is - I'm not sure I want a rolling bag that is specifically built for camera use. I think I'm after something I can stick domke inserts in to when travelling by air, or desperately need the camera with me on a day out and take it out when on tour and pack it in a camera bag and stick the portable printer in the roller. (I normally stick the printer in the checked bags when flying. If I need to bring it at all.)

I think the rolling tote in my original post is pretty much what I want. Now I just need to find it on a good deal - or something similar to it.

I have the MicroTrekker 200 stuffed with 8 kilos of gear. It's been all over the world and still looks like new.

I like my 6-month old LowePro Daypak. Fits a 15.4" notebook, camera and lens. Sometimes I stuffed a thin jacket into the 3rd compartment. The whole thing fits under the airlines seat. It replaced my older EagleCreek backpack.

Sounds interesting. Can you be more specific on the model? I need something that fits all the gear my MicroTreker does, but also has room for a 15" laptop.

If your shoulder is hurting you, you can buy:
1)better shoulder strap. May make a minimal improvement.
2)Something that takes the weight off the shoulder. This could be a roller or a backpack. this is really the only solution. Thinktank has some good products.

Yup, as I said in my original post. I've found a roller I think would do the trick, however, I have resurrected my old roller. Hopefully it will be accepted next time I need to fly somewhere.

The Tamrac is sold on ebay so can't buy another shoulder strap for it.

Got a new lens this weekend. Built like a tank and weighs like one as well. A roller is a must.

Cheers

I just bought the Lowepro Computrekker AW. Fits all my gear plus a 15" laptop and still works as a carryon. Nive padded shoulder straps. No wheels.

I just hope BAA outgrows this one carryon fixation before my next trip through LHR about 10 months from now.
