Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions...

My mother (who is NOT a freq flyer) went to Vegas today (from MCO) with a couple of friends. Suitcases full of new clothes, tickets to an expensive show tonight, and they had a late arriving flight resulting in a quick connection in Phoenix. Bags didn't make it.

They waited and were told their bags would come in on the next flight (they didn't), and then they were told to "call back tomorrow" and were hung up on. They asked and were told they would only be compensated $25 for clothes, toiletries, etc.

They are only there 3 nights and of course this starts their whole trip on a sour note. Any suggestions on how to proceed, what to look for, what to ask for? FF miles won't do her much good.

Thanks.

Ok, so let's just say that I'm bored tonight - and I love my mother. I noticed that this message has been viewed 20 times (only three times by me!) and no one has replied to it. This tells me a couple things.

1) My mom and her friends are SOL.

and

2) This topic doesn't seem very interesting to 17 people or they feel they don't have anything useful to say about it.

A comment of, "Yes, they are SOL" would be helpful also. Thanks so much my frequent flying friends.

File a claim later, and US may give her a voucher. It's not clear whether they are liable:

I think this is unfortunately accurate. If your mom and friends don't have a busy evening tomorrow, they might want to try and call the box office for the show. Explain the lost/delayed luggage and see if they can see the show tomorrow night.

Do RSS feeds up the number of views? I know that Outlook 2007 aggregates all of my RSS feeds, and then I view them later. Not that we don't also love your mother, we just didn't see the thread until some time had passed.

Maybe, maybe not.
As far as the tickets, I'm guessing they're SOL.

I'd certainly try and call the baggage number again, hope for a different person, and if not ask for a supervisor.
I've been told different things by US due to baggage mishandling last year, so I'm not exactly sure what's right. (Surprisingly in all of my trips last year, US only mishandled my luggage twice). I've been told that I wouldn't be reimbursed for anything until my bag had been missing for 24 hours. (my total time in the city was approximately 30 hours). I've also been told by the agent to submit a form for my expenses, with no questions asked. In both cases I submitted a claim form and reciepts with the amount of money I spent on toiletries, incidentals (and in the first case, a small amount of clothing), and in both cases I recieved a check from US within a few weeks. I'm starting to think that was an exception rather than the rule.
