There is a plane pull competition to benefit Special Olympics on Saturday, September 8th at Dulles. It is held behind some of the cargo hangars away from the passenger terminals. A team is comprised of 20 people, with a minimum pledge/donation of $50 each.

It is an annual event, and I've always wanted to go, but seem to be out of town each year I've seen the signs except for this one!!

If there are enough people interested, I think it would be great to put together an FT team. You get a t-shirt and some other things for participating, but mostly it's a fun day. PM me if interested.

Gosh, I see the signs every year and have wondered what it's all about. Now you're putting together a team and I'd love to participate, but in typical FT fashion I'll be out of town that weekend! Sorry...

I think the right way to say that was "thinking" or "trying" to put a team together - looks like I'll be watching from the sidelines but like you, I've always seen the signs but have not been before.

I'd love to participate too but like most other flexible travelers I take my vacation in September as soon as the summer crowds go home.

A handful of FT'ers took a trip out to Dulles today to watch the Plane Pull ... a link to pictures is available on the communitybuzz thread. They had a lot of airport equipment out, a car show, a number of airplanes (a lot of small ones) and helicopters on display along with some cargo planes. There were a handful of vendors there, as well including Southwest.com, ANA and oh yeah, TSA looking for TSOs.

Maybe we'll get a team together by next year's Pull.

I'm definitely game for next year! I went with my kids and we had a great time. I have some nice pics of them next to and under the FX MD10.

Put me down for next year with enough advanced notice!. Me and MadHouse24 friend went last year and certainly wanted to do it this year but alas...we were on a semi MR down in SJO:D
