I rarely have anything good to say about US Airways, but I really have to commend everyone that helped get 1724 out from TPA and into DCA.

As most of you know, storms in the mid east ground travel to a halt last night. This was especially true for DCA ground stops were declared for much of the night. To make an otherwise long story at least a little shorter:

The GA was great about announcing any changes to the status of our flight. She tracked our incoming plane from DCA and gave us updates about when our plane would arrive whenever she heard something new. There were a lot of people in line waiting for seats, but she and another GA worked quickly to help everyone at the gate. During boarding a snooty couple pushed their way to the front of the line trying to get on the flight during pre-board and the GA kindly informed them that no, they could not board, as they were in Zones 4 and 5. Oops :D

We boarded the flight and the FAs were good about getting us our pre-flight drinks. The pilot was great about giving us constant updates on what ATC were telling them. Although we waited on the runway for 4 hours, he did go back to the gate twice to let people off. He really made it apparent that everyone was trying their best to get us back home.

All in all, we arrived 6 hours later than planned, but I don't think anyone could really complain about the service. Great job for making a crappy night a little better! ^

That's awesome! I hope you can find the time to write a letter. If we want to encourage such service levels, we should recognize and award it.

Yes, yes to the haters: this should be the definition of standard service and not excellent service. I agree. But it's not. So let's thank those folks--hopefully the recognition and comments passed along from their supervisors will be incentive to keep up the good work.

You mean the taxiway? I hope they weren't in position and holding on an active runway in use...:p

I second the recommendation to provide positive feedback to USAir, concerning the GA and FA's. Hopefully you got their names, but if you identify the gate and flight, hopefully they can get recognized for a job well done.

Well you know the airline is in trouble when we have to start a thread to acknowledge "expected" service.
