View Full Version : At IAD, any good restaurant for breakfast?

For an upcoming trip, I have 2.5 hrs to burn at IAD while waiting for my connecting flight. In by UA, and out by Ted. At the terminal, I never was aware of any decent restaurant other than fast food joints & bar. Any suggestions for a good place for breakfast in the terminal? Thx

Unfortunately, breakfast options in the C/D concourse aren't great. To be frank, I'm not really aware of much other than the fast food joints (granted, since I live in the DC area, I generally eat at home before catching a.m. flights), though there do seem to have been some improvements lately. I'd suggest taking a look at the directory and map of the various concessions (http://metwashairports.com/_/File/_/shopdulles.pdf). With 2.5 hours, you'll certainly have time to check out all of the options.

I personally either have a breakfast burrito at California Tortilla or a breakfast sandwich at Potbelly's. I do believe, however, that some of the sit-down restaurants open early.

You might also spend some of your layover time checking out terminal B to see what we UA flyers are missing.

Thanks for Post #2 and #3. The link is helpful.
Last time I had the unfortunate occasion (stuck at IAD due to snow storm) to dine in Concourses C & D, the choices were not great. I ended up getting a sandwich at Starbucks.
As suggested, I might just venture over to Concourse B and see what's there.

I concur. That's definitely your best bet!^

I like the Harry's Tap Room before security. Decent bfast sandwich and coffee :), and it's empty whenever I go.

The Firkin and Fox in C Concourse makes omelettes to order with a nice variety of added goodies to choose from. I was very pleasantly surprised and the quality of the food.

no point to leave security to go to harry's when you can go to the one in concourse B. i agree that in the morning there isn't much going on. what time will you be there? either harry's or tequileria (spelling?) are pretty good for concourse B. after that, well, not good.

This is a relatively new place. I concur the breakfast is adequate. But try for a table rather than a seat at the bar. The carved edge of the bar is very uncomfortable for eating.

Thanks for the heads-up. I love omelette (mushroom in particular). I jot down the names.

My flight gets in around 6AM, connecting flight departs at about 8:30AM. Plenty of time to enjoy a hearty breakfast :).
I do prefer not to go outside of security. Any place opens during those hours?

Sounds like you have definitely "been-there, done-that". This is what I found FT forum so amazing ^.
If I am there, I will try avoid the bar. Thanks.
