The airline said last night that it was "unfortunate" that the Danish leg of the trip was delayed by five hours, but added that it was a point-to-point airline and thus not responsible for missed connecting flights.

Coach Donal Devery said that each group member paid €450 for their flights and that the airline's attitude was not acceptable.
Come on people... I wonder if they even bothered looking at other airlines. Had they gone to any decent travel agent they would have been offered guaranteed connections GWY-AAL with SAS for €430 all in. Or for €300 DUB-AAL. I think this is their own fault; don't fly ryanair, it is as simple as that! Only part where I might pity them is if ryanair didn't follow applicable laws when the plane was delayed in AAL.
Ryanair make money from the sheeples who never get past the mantra that "Ryanair is cheap".
Much as I loath Ryanair it's TOTALLY the fault of the organisers of this trip
I agree with alanR...it is a well known fact that Ryanair is a point to point airline. It is also well known, that when things go wrong with Ryanair..you are going to be put out.
Ryanair generally speaking make no bones about this, and if you are prepared to accept this attitude...then generally speaking you will get whats coming to you
Aer Lingus (although not in this equation)INHO, give an illusion that they will look after you if things go pear shaped, but my experience has been that they are just as bad as Ryanair with regard to customer relations
Knowing the industry reasonably well...I think you will find that the Ryanair aircraft did not go "tech" on purpose

If they were on the flight, they would not have had to catch a coach home! ;) :D
Seriously though it is great to hear that some good has come from what sounds like a terrible experience. However, as has already been mentioned, I also find it hard to blame Ryanair for this at all.
