my girlfriend is in her final year of dental school and my job is now quite a ways away from her. but i am the one that always travels, etc...

my question is if i can purchase the ticket for her and have the miles credited to my account?

also, if i have vouchers, e-vouchers, etc...can i apply those to a ticket bought for someone else?

thanks for any help. it is just that i fly enough as is, i would like for her to come visit me on these upcoming weekends. we are planning a SE asia trip in the near future and i would like to keep all the points in one account...

Nope....The one who flies is the one who gets the miles.

I think that the vouchers can be used for anyone you like, but again, you cannot collect those miles unless you are the one in the plane.

is there a way that she will be able to combine her points with mine at a later date?

Actually, I believe there is a way!!! This is what I do to use my miles to purchas award tickets for my friends, and I think it will work in your situation as well. What you do is go to usairways.com, and FIRST sign into your dividend miles account. Now that you're signed in, purchas a ticket under your DM account number. And there you go!! You have a ticket purchased and your DM number is already entered. But remember to change the name on the ticket before you purchas, just backspace your name and put hers. Whatever you do, DONT forget the last step!!! good luck, I think it will work!@:-)

Yes you can deffiantly do that. If what I posted above doesnt work out, which I think it will: She can donate her miles to your account. This is pretty easy to do, but there is some kind of Fee involved.

Lamb!!!! your stock just keeps rising and rising!!!

Thanks sooooo much...

I mean, if i am purchasing the ticket and we are going to use all the points for a massive trip, i just don't want to piece-meal it...

really tip top Lamb!!!

Transportation Vouchers may be given as a gift if the "Passenger Name" box is blank. If vouchers are combined, they must be written for a dollar amount and the name in the "Passenger Name" boxes must be the same.

Round Trip Flight Credits may be transferred to another individual prior to redemption.

Yes, but it is extremely expensive - 3 cents per mile, $25 processing fee and 50,000 miles maximum per transaction.

I did this to purchase a ticket for my wife to attend a baby shower in SEA from PHX. I forgot to put her DM account number in over mine so the ticket was issued with her name but my DM number. I got the miles AND she got upgraded on one of the flights (I'm a plat, she's a basic member).

I've tried that trick before and it did not work for me.

before the system merge you could do it on the west but not the east. Since we are using the west now maybe it will work.

Yes, my purchase was on West. Can't remember if it was before the system merge or not. I wrote about it in here at the time.

It would probably be better to delete info that could get this loophole closed.
