I'm going to a baseball tournament in Cooperstown for a week and on the way back I'll have a half a day or so in NYC. Friday night August 17th we're going to the Yankee game. But Saturday my flight isn't until 6 pm so I've got a little bit of time in the city.

I've been once before when I was 12 years old, now I'm an 18 year old college student so. Anyway, I've done the Empire State Building, went to the top of the Twin Towers, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, etc.

I'm sure most of this stuff has been answered before. But does anyone have any reccomendations for me to do for the day?

If it's a nice day I'd walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and along the park in Brooklyn, visit the Top of the Rock, or kayak the East River,

We'll be there on the Sunday afternoon of that weekend. It's a weekend series against Detroit. If you can get to the ballpark by 5:00pm, go on the tour of Monument Park. You'll be happy you did. ^

I'd recommend going to the upper west side (west 70's or 80's on Columbus Ave or Broadway than then follow your nose for some breakfast and walking around and seeing the sights up in that neighborhood. Then go to West 79th Street to the Museum of Natural History. (sounds boring but quite a cool place)

From there, walk into Central Park and see places like Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Fountain, the Zoo, and have some hot dog/shish-ka-bob lunch from a vendor or lunch at the Boat House restaurant by the lake.

You can exit the park on 59th St. and 5th Ave and walk down 5th and see the Apple store and walk to 57th St to the Nike store if those retailers are of interest to you.

If you have any particular hobbies or interests, let us know and I'm sure we can help you find a shop or museum that targets your interest. You might also check the schedule for the Jacob Javitts Convention Center. It could be that there's an open to the public convention there the day you're in town that happens to be your hobby (i.e. boat show, car show, sports, etc)

Though the Museum of Sex may sound intriguing to you, I'd check their calendar first to see that they're not featuring something that's of no interest to your particular sexual orientation or fetish. It's not cheap to walk in for a quick look at something that you're not interested in.

The Hop-on Hop-Off bus is a nice way to see the city if you haven't already done that. And a boat ride around the city on the Circle Line is very popular as well.

It really depends on your interests -- but if they are in any way related to art or history, the Metropolitan Museum is, in my view, the greatest museum in this great country. Always something to see there.

There are few Egyptian displays as spectacularly sited as the Temple of Dendur. I like to say that is how God would have done it -- if God had the kind of money that the Met can raise! :) :)
