Hi all. Looking for a short review on EasyJet. I've heard the criticisms about RyanAir and EasyJet seems like a more.. sensible organization.

Route's not set in stone but something along the lines of AMS/NCE-LGW or something like that.

I've read the critiques on RyanAir and trying to make my time in the air a bit more comfortable. I know I get what I pay for and the price I was quoted (33 Euros all in one way) seemed pretty good.

They suck? They cool? They seem like the better of the EU LCC scene but just want to confirm that. Thanks!

I flew them R/T from AMS to EDI a couple of years ago. They were fine. I really can only offer you that the trip was uneventful (which is a good thing when flying LCC, I gather). The price was incredible. I think around 60 Euros for R/T. I would fly them again in a heartbeat.

I've flown them several times from England to other european countries. Price is very good. No assigned seats. My only gripe is the amount and weight of your luggage is very small, and they do weigh it. How I get around that is I fly into London first, stay at a hotel that is willing to keep my "extra" luggage stored away, then pack only the necessities for the side trip. I would fly them again.

I've flown them AMS-EDI as well and found them greatly preferable to RyanAir, primarily because they didn't (and RyanAir did) impose weight restrictions on my carryon (which weighed about 12kg) or lower those restrictions in the middle of a 2-day turn.

Their limit for (free) checked baggage is the standard European limit of 20 kg - I don't understand why anyone would have a gripe about that. Most if not all European carriers have a 20 kg limit on European flights, and your baggage always gets weighed. Ryanair has a 15 kg limit, and they charge for it.

Easyjet is probably Europe's most generous carrier when it comes to carry-on luggage - no weight limit as long as you can lift it in the overhead bins unaided. Most other carriers in Europe have a limit of between 6 and 12 kg (10 seems to be the most common one)

I flew them from LGW-GVA-STN and the flights were fine...a little delay here and there but nothing out of the norm. The seats are a bit tight, but again, most flights are relatively short.

One important note is that no matter how many additional bags you purchase the gross weight of your checked baggage does not increase. The limit is 20kg and they mean it. On the outbound I was a bit over and it was overlooked but coming back I was really a more than a bit over and they charged through the nose...over $200.

Now I am not complaining because I knew the rules going in and I was in fact over (as was my travel partner) their limit. So, lesson learned--pack extremely light and ship any purchases home!

They were absolutely fine for getting from point A to point B.

I noticed those parts.

Thanks a lot for the input! Definitely don't feel bad about going with them now.

I'm just going to do an open jaw from Phila -> Lon -> Ams -> Phila and use an LCC in the gap I think. Open jaw on UA (where I have these credits that must be used) is cheaper than an RT Phila-LON.. go figure.

Thanks again!

I have flown LGW-AMS, DUBLin & Palma (Spain) x3 all with Easy jet in the last year. No flight delayed more than 25 mins. Aircraft (Airbus A319 or 737-700's all very new and shiny.) Crews GREAT. If you are bothered about where you sit, book "speedy boarding".... you get boarded first or if the a/c is on a remote stand, you get on the first bus / coach out. Leg-room can be a little bit tight, but there are at least 12 seats with extra leg room on each flight, again worth booking that speedy boarding. Note that if you want to catch an earlier flight the same day they will often move you to it for free. Other late changes may incurr a hefty fee. Easyjet are MUCH better than Ryan.... Enjoy^

EZY are my favourate UK LCC (jet2 are next). Having flown them a number of time to edinburgh on business I can say that they are more efficent and professional than flybe on the route and charge around £120 less!

EasyJet is a decent low-cost airline (inlike Ryanair). Flying with them is a much better experience than with FR. ^

I've flown them three or four times... overall a good experience.

I also hear/know air berlin and virgin express have been good to me and or my friends during my Euro get togethers...

Ryan Air... well Uhm... good luck!

I've flown with EasyJet several times from UK to Europe and back and will do so again in the future. The longest delay I've had is 1 hour. All the flights have been (as commented by a previous poster) uneventful - which is good.

EZ Jet - no problems. As others say there is the fight for a seat, but if you're traveling alone then no problem.

Just avoid RyanScare - they have the smallest carry on baggage size (55cm x 40cm x 20cm) and charge a fortune for hold baggage. Also they don't do customer service...

Nothing but praise for Easyjet, as long as you are aware of the occasional delay especially at the end of the day. They run an extremely tight ship on which pleasing the passenger is a primary concern. Innovations such as Speedy Boarding give those who wish to avoid the mad rush for seats an opportunity to board comfortably for a low surcharge, and their catering, though not free, is equal or superior to the average coach availability on heritage airlines.

Increasingly, LC carriers come in several classes, with Easyjet, Air Berlin and Norwegian at the top and Ryanair, FlyBe and Airbaltic at the (sometimes deep) bottom

I travelled for the first time MXP-LGW RT abotu 4 weeks ago. It was the first time I had ever taken easyjet (usually I fly ryanair for my cheap carrier) and I was very impressed. I really liked how the seats reclined and that you could do OLCI. My flights were pretty much on time and it was much easier for me to get to MXP than BGY.

Last friday my mother and brother flew in on easyjet LGW-MXP. There lfight was ~3 hours late. This made it necessary for us to pay €100 for a taxi from MXP-Milano centrale stazione so we could catch our train to roma. I was not very pleased. I am not sure why their flight was late but it was very frusturating. As some one picking them up I did not care for easyjet at that time, although I have to say my personal inflight experiencewas good.

Just noticed that they are now charging for all checked luggage - but at £2 per bag instead of 1st bag free, £5 for 2nd and subsequent bags

Squezyjet is definitely at the top end of the LCCs, and offer some very good deals for pax booking a long way ahead. All the same, there are some gotchas in the EZY package as already noted in this thread. As for pricing, these days the BA fares from e.g. LGW <> GVA are often similar to (or even lower than) those from EZY.

As for actually flying on EZY, Mrs Satprof, in particular, finds that she feels treated like one of a herd of animals. The boarding process, with no pre-allocated seats, is the worst offender in this respect. Even if you pay for priority boarding, you still often have to push your way through a crowd of pax jostling for pole position in the boarding frenzy.:td:

This crush is, of course, the fault of human nature. It is, OTOH, EZY's policy of not pre-allocating seats that brings it about. With more OLCI & automated check-in at the airports, it is to be hoped that this will change over time. Several of the other LCCs are now increasing their revenue by charging for seat allocation at time of booking. Let's see if EZY goes that way too.

I am a fairly regular user of Easyjet here out of GVA, where they are the largest operator. I have never had any serious complaints to make. On the few occasions our flights were seriously delayed (more than 2 hours), they supplied refreshment vouchers.
Their planes are all relatively new and look as though they're maintained in good condition. The flight crews are serious and have always inspired confidence, even though the ambience can be low-key.
Just remember they are low-cost, there are no frills. Don't expect anything and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I second the fact that they are good. Most airports they fly into are very good, unlike Ryanair. The planes are as good as Y class on most other European carriers. Along with Wizz Air,I would place them at the top of the LCC ranks in Europe.

Though I have to add, I have not flown with LCC for 2 years now, so something might have changed.
