I am looking for a CHEAP flight on any *alliance member......

I need 17k m for status this year.....

I would like to take a cool trip by myself...

I am looking at Asia or something...

Just looking for a great trip for 12 days by myself and within a budget 1500.00 USD

I've seen some cheap flight to MEX and OGG during that time frame (under $500). I looked at Asia and best I found was about $900 to NGO. have you called any consolidators?

Check with a travel agent and ask for AC fares to HKG. The key is to route through Toronto to get a bunch of miles and only the consolidator fares allow this routing. If you have an agent you trust, have them check with Skylink USA [they do not deal with the public, believe me]. You can make about 20,000 miles.

Staying in HKG may be a touch expensive, but I know that last month, I went to Saigon and was paying $12 per night including breakfast to stay at a guest house. UA has a flight from SFO-HKG that continues on to SGN.

Or you could just score the current consolidator fare on UA to SGN. The routing is on sale if you act fast

You will need a visa for Vietnam.

Scrap this advice. The planes across the Pacific are all quite full with students returning to school. Forget Asia. I was doing a search for myself. You may find this problem on other routes as well. I noticed your dates after I wrote the stuff about HKG.
