Jet Airways now requires one to use *2* upgrade vouchers from 1 August 2007 onwards - not giving much time at all (maybe 5 days??) to use one's before the change - just received an e-mail that was transmitted with half the information, so I referred to the website, and this is the transcription:
Complimentary Upgrade Vouchers
When traveling on an economy class booking, JetPrivilege members can enjoy a complimentary upgrade to Premiere by using an upgrade voucher. These vouchers are sent by JetPrivilege to its members from time to time, depending on their tier status, use of the Jet Airways Citibank Gold Card or as a special offer.
Upgrade vouchers cannot be used for upgrade to First Class.
The number of vouchers required for an upgrade per flight, is now based on the "Travelled Distance" concept, which is determined at the rate of 1 voucher for every 2000 flown miles, with a minimum of 1 voucher per boarding pass. The travelled distance is equal to the number of base JPMiles earned for that flight on a full fare economy class ticket.
Therefore, the number of vouchers needed for an upgrade is now directly proportional to the distance of the flight.
Traveled Distance (In Miles) Number of Upgrade Vouchers needed for an upgrade to Premiere
1 – 2000 1
2001 – 4000 2
4001 – 6000 3
6001 + 4
Effective 01 August 2007, the JetPrivilege Upgrade Voucher requirement is revised as follows:
Traveled Distance (In Miles) Number of Upgrade Vouchers needed for an upgrade to Premiere
1 - 1500 1
1501 - 3000 2
3001 - 4750 3
4751 - 6500 4
6501 - 8500 5
8501 - 10500 6
10501 + 7
Elite Tier Upgrade Vouchers:
In recognition of their tier status, our JetPrivilege Platinum, Gold and Silver members receive 5, 3 and 1 confirmed upgrade vouchers respectively each time their tier status changes.
The upgrade offered in Premiere is on a confirmed basis. The passenger must request for the same, anytime prior to but no less than 48 hours before flight departure, by contacting any Jet Airways reservation office and quoting the voucher number(s).
I gather a lot of people were trying to use their vouchers to get into First Class, so this is why they have restricted this practice! Oh well, there goes that chance! ;)
