DL wouldn't get paid until AFTER the ticket coupon for the DL flights was used. And so in the event of a scheduled flight after "AZ goes under", DL would be left chasing dust. In other words, only if DL were to be especially nice.

Whether you have to actually go there will depend on how fast they relent, but they will.

2) You will have more chances if flights are on AZ metal as otherwise the carrying airline can dismiss you telling you to sort it out with AZ, which will be a mess regardless of whether they still operate or not.

Finally found an itin from CLE that meshed with our vacation schedule, got through to entering the passenger info, clicked OK and was ready to enter the credit card info, but I got the same screen as everyone else.

There is no need to call. Hold off on calling because that will bring nothing good if this happens to still be around somewhere. And inviting comments about your own ticket -- and that's what a call may do -- is not going to improve matters.

Using the flexible date ticket lookup on Alitalia.com, I still see some $500 fares. They are labeled Promo. But when I click on to view/book, the website crashes. Then when I finally get back in to the site, the $500 fare for that day is gone, despite being there 30 seconds ago. Im still finding the $500 Business Freedom Fares, but have yet to try and book one. (Fares for ATL-Kiev)

If you call an Alitalia representative, they would have to be a complete fool to sell you a sub-$500 transatlantic business class ticket. Nothing good will come of the call. So please don't.

Just got the same error. Im guessing they know what is up, as the fares are disappearing in the calender. Oh well, hoepfully some one can still luck out and find a bookable ticket. I guess from now on Ill just book when I first had the chance, oh well.

Checking FareCompare, looks like the fares have pretty much (I won't say all, in case there is still something lingering) been unloaded.

I was getting $467 for SEA (and PDX) to FCO. But got the:

Frankly, with my experience in Alitalia "Magnifica Class" I wouldn't care to even spend the $500 to get across the pond. Only if the flights were DL-operated codeshares would it be worth it to me. Kudos to those who got in on this deal, though.

I am getting something on Travelocity via travel.yahoo.com but it changes pricing to $1,300. After pricing change it is not clear whether it is business or economy. (LAX-KBP)

But I had one successfully go through. Tried to print it but it asked for a page refresh. Once that was done confirmation didn't come back up again.

The outbound and return are on AF codeshares, how long would it take until AF are aware I am booked on one of their flights? I'd prefer to phone up AF rather than AZ (for obvious reasons).

I wonder if these tickets are going to be honored by Alitalia, especially tickets on codeshare partners. I am not too familar with contract law (especially international contract law for those outside of italy), but it would seem that their argument would be that it was obivious for people to know the price was a mistake and unreasonable for for a person to rely on it. (500 j-class AZ opposed to 800 y-class AF same rout).

While I could see most airlines honoring the the tickets (as good faith act opposed to legal response), Alitalia is losing about 1.2 million per-day and is set to run out of cash in mid-october. This would be motivation for AZ to cheerfully refund your money and invite buy a ticket at its normal price, sue me if you do not like it.

I have not seen the contract of carriage, but no doubt the lawyers behind AZ have put a stupid gateway clause in it. (gateway put a clause in the contract requring anyone that wanted to litigate had to do so in the International court of arbitration, which required the parties to pay a $2000 fee).

I was thinking of Nicolo, too -- and wondering if he has a bruise on his forehead. I'm not in on this deal, but Nicolo was so great to deal with, I hope (for FTers' sakes -- not his) he gets assigned to this if it goes that direction.

If they decide not to honor these how does it work...do they refund your money or do they give you some sort of option like paying more to keep the reservation....all of my reservations are "ticketed and confirmed" all thru expedia. I certainly hope I won't be left holding the bag if they decide not to honor it.

I disagree, I believe the LCY saga has shown that there will either be two outcomes, 1. Not honored at all, or 2. Honored according to the original fare rules in original booking class. Moreover, AZ cannot physically do what you are alleging, holding us to non-refundable coach tickets. This is all or nothing...

The AZ website wasn't working but I just got 2 on expedia for SFO-Europe...1080 for both including taxes...hope that it works out, the trip is at year end.

They did last time.

They canceled them first, and then after a lot of pressure, they honored them, the last time. Given their financial condition, I wouldn't go booking any hotel rooms yet. :)

looks like you don't, i think it's gone...i've tried cheaptickets, zuji, travelocity, orbitz and expedia (along with the az and dl websites) for various dates, and while in some cases the fare shows at the start, it won't allow you to click through and actually book the cheaper fare.

That is the irritating thing about it...I am trying to move on after missing it.... Trying to get on with work and look for other trips to Europe and all that shows up (weel other things show up but not as good) is AZ in Business on the cheap...

nothing looks bookable it just keeps popping up on most search engines. As KVS pointed out AZ zeroed out all of the business class tickets.

Looks like you are right. I've searched everywhere as well. If only I had spotted this earlier. ITA is down. Getting the proxy error...

I tried all morining since 09:00 CDT and found nothing bookable.:td:

For about an hour, I saw a $468 business class fare available. I'd get to the point where I was ready to give my credit card number, and I'd get a screen saying the system was unavailable. This happened about 10 times with a variety of dates. Now I don't see anything there under $1,000. Rats!

Apparently you can't book anything in business from JFK to anywhere. Interestingly enough, JFK-TLV is a cheap fare too (though JFK-RCO in Y).

I'll even take this ticket (even if it's in coach). I can't even get this to work... this is a great fare even in Coach for me. Too bad alitalia's website is acting up...

FWIW, even when I could get this to price (hours ago) the fare rules for JR were gone and the fare seemed to have been pulled. Also, AZ zeroed out all the inventory from at least the NY area. What priced out (but wouldn't ticket) was EWR-YYZ-MXP/FCO. This was on multiple sites. AZ appears to have tried to kill this as fast as they could in as many ways as they could. I think it's really dead and it has been for hours.

For the one I purchased, IAD-FCO sub 500, it is a pretty marginal offseason coach fare. It will have to be honored in business or refunded for me.

From the moment I received a FC fare alert to booking my family's trip to checking FT to see if I should post the deal was just a matter of minutes. I then went back to try to pick up a pure MR fare, which was still within an hour or so of the deal breaking and could not get anything to price out.

My personal opinion is that AZ likely did not sell all that many of these and that whatever internal controls that have working now must be working.

I was initially able to price 2 tickets IAH - ZRH, however i was slow to pull the trigger and by the time i went to the payment screen, it gvave me an error.

I kept trying different city/pair combinations and finally had success booking SFO - FCO Apr 17 - Apr 28th. This was in the later stages of this fair being available. Initially i did get Alitalia Confirmation Code however it didnt have a airline ticket number but when i just logged in, it shows the airline ticket number ^
